Falling Skies‘ final season has reached its halfway point, but don’t worry, answers are coming before it’s all over. BuddyTV was at San Diego Comic-Con to get the scoop on what’s coming up in the remaining episodes from stars Moon Bloodgood and Connor Jessup and co-executive producer and director Olatunde Osunsanmi.

Here are a few highlights:

  • Bloodgood is glad that her character got to be a mother and a fighter and more active.
  • Jessup is happy with where Ben ended up over the course of the show.
  • “It’s a happy ending for some characters,” Jessup teased. “It’s not an unhappy ending of the show.”
  • There is a new weapon they have to fight.
  • “There’s always the threat of other humans. That’s basic sci-fi,” Bloodgood said and agreed with Jessup that they do that every season.
  • Tom is “always gone” and goes to a farm.
  • This year is all about Tom’s rage.
  • According to Jessup, “The thrust of the show has been Tom going from a mild-mannered history professor who always protected the civilians and battled with Weaver over military stuff to almost the reverse, where he becomes colder and harder and more aggressive and Weaver almost becomes gentler and more humanistic.”

Falling Skies Interviews: Colin Cunningham and Doug Jones Tease Pope Going Crazy and a Big Cochise Episode>>>

Watch the video interview with Olatunde Osunsanmi:

Here are a few highlights:

  • “It was pretty crazy” but “a lot of fun” to take over for the final season.
  • “It was tricky” when it came to tying up loose ends, Osunsanmi admitted. “There were so many characters, a lot of aliens.”
  • With so many characters, it was best to follow each one through episode 1 to episode 10 (if they made it that far).
  • “It’s kind of traumatic,” he said of killing off characters. He killed off 4 characters in his first episode (season 4’s “Saturday Night Massacre”).
  • Episode 6 is “a big one for Tom where we see him go get to these emotional depths that we’re not used to seeing him, just seeing the cracks in his armor that we’re not used to seeing.”
  • The finale is “pretty wild.”

Falling Skies season 5 airs Sundays at 10pm on TNT.

If it’s on TV — especially if it’s a procedural or superhero show — chances are Meredith watches it. She has a love for all things fiction, starting from a young age with ER and The X-Files on the small screen and the Nancy Drew books. Arrow kicked off the Arrowverse and her true passion for all things heroes. She’s enjoyed getting into the minds of serial killers since Criminal Minds, so it should be no surprise that her latest obsession is Prodigal Son.
