In the previous season of CSI: NY, CSIs Danny Messer (Carmine Giovinazzo) and Lindsay Monroe (Anna Belknap) finally took their relationship to another level.  Those rooting for the relationship will be delighted to know that two will remain an item in the upcoming season.

“They are together and their relationship is happy and interesting,” executive producer Pam Veasey told TV Guide‘s Michael Ausiello. “And, at some point, which we haven’t decided yet, there will be a bump in the road — like any relationship.”

That “bump in the road” won’t be the first in Danny and Lindsay’s romance.  Danny and Lindsay did not immediately hit it off when she started working at the crime lab.  In fact, Danny played a trick on Lindsay that got her into a wee bit of trouble with their supervisor, Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise).  Over time, though, the two developed a friendship, which eventually blossomed into a romantic relationship.

Unlike Gil Grissom (William Petersen) and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox), two characters from the original series who are also romantically involved, the new couple of CSI:NY will not be keeping their relationship a secret from their co-workers.

“We’re not going to make a big deal about whether people know or don’t know,” Veasey told Ausiello.  “They played that very well on CSI.  It’s more about seeing that they have this mutual respect.  They’ll have moments that they share, things that the audience shares with them, but mostly they’ll continue to do their jobs and enjoy working together.  And then, ultimately, we’ll find a little skip in there somewhere.”

The recent development in the Danny-Lindsay storyline reiterates the fact that Belknap remains a series regular.  An earlier press release from the network stated that for the show’s fourth season, the 34-year-old actress would be among CSI:NY‘s recurring cast only.  This, however, was later cleared up by a CBS representative, who assured Ausiello that Belknap is still part of the main
cast.

CSI:NY returns with new episodes on Wednesday, September 26.
