At present, Christel Khalil has a lot to deal with as Lily Winters on The Young and the Restless.  With the news of Cane (Daniel Goddard) having a baby with another woman, Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson), Lily’s innate kindness has come shining through.  Yet she is still struggling deep inside, not knowing is she can still have her happy ending with the man she loves.

In an interview with tulsaworld.com, Christel Khalil sheds light on her character’s sentiments on her complicated storyline on The Young and the Restless.

“Lily really cares about the baby. It doesn’t matter to her that it is in Chloe’s belly. Lily loves Cane, so she loves his baby as well.  The baby comes first.  Lily will always do what is best for the baby,” the Young and the Restless actress said.

“What makes this whole situation even harder for her is that she is supposed to be OK with the whole situation.  Lily is the one who told Cane that he needs to be with Chloe, so she has to be OK with how things are turning out,” she added.

Meanwhile, Khalil remains optimistic about her character’s future storyline.

“I think that’s a possibility,” she said of Cane and Lily’s happy ending.  “She definitely can see the hope, and they can adapt and love each other in a more mature and honest way.”

Khalil joined The Young and the Restless in August 2002 and left the soap in September 2005. Soon after her departure, she was replaced by Davetta Sherwood who was let go seven months later by Lynn Marie Latham in favor of Khalil, who officially returned to the show on November 7, 2006.

“They asked me to come back a few times, but I said no.  After about a year, they asked again.  I’d had a year off; I felt rested and ready to go back.  Plus, I was really missing everyone,” she explained.
