Jerry O’Connell sure has it tough these days.  Everyday, he can’t make up his mind whether to be married to Rebecca Romijn or not.  His biggest dilemma – how to make sure he never misplaces the wedding band he has to remove daily on the set of Carpoolers.

Ironically, the newlywed Romijn and O’Connell play a recently divorced couple in at least one episode of the upcoming ABC comedy.  Because of his Carpoolers character, the actor must constantly ditch his wedding ring for his regular filming sessions.  Understandably, O’Connell is worried about losing the precious metal so soon after the nuptials.  Ever the boy scout, the actor has found an almost certainly fool-proof way of keeping the item safe and close to his person.

“I get very nervous when I have to take my wedding ring off,” O’Connell confessed to People during the recent bash for the release of Ugly Betty’s complete first season DVD.  “But I have to everyday at work, so I safety pin it to my underwear so I’ll never forget it.”

In real life, Romijn and O’Connell are likely still enjoying their honeymoon phase, having been married just over two months.  However, when Romijn guest stars on her new hubby’s latest series, she will essay the role of his sexy, sultry, alluring and free-spirited ex-wife, Joannifer.  The supermodel-turned-actress will be returning a favor when she appears on the show.  O’Connell recently took a turn on Romijn’s program, Ugly Betty, where he portrayed a jock who picks up Romijn’s character, Alexis.

“They said there was a role for my ex-wife, and they wanted my real wife to play it,” O’Connell revealed.  “I said [to her], ‘I did Ugly Betty, so now you’re on Carpoolers.”

However, while O’Connell has taken careful steps to ensure that his ring remains with him, whether it’s on or off his finger, he admits that his better half “leaves it at home by the sink.”

Carpoolers takes off on ABC October 2.
