For many participants of The Biggest Loser, shedding some pounds is a great achievement.  But for Matt Hoover, second season winner, and wife Suzy Preston, having a baby is a life-altering experience that just tops everything.

Hoover, who lost a total of 157 pounds and won $250,000 as The Biggest Loser champion, met Preston, who was awarded $25,000 for landing in 3rd place, during filming for the show’s second season. The pair began dating shortly after leaving The Biggest Loser ranch in 2005 and married in a small beachside ceremony in Jamaica in 2006.  Six weeks later, the couple announced that they were expecting their first child together. In an interview with In Touch Weekly, the couple gushed about their baby boy, Rex Timothy Hoover, who was born in June.

“It’s the coolest thing I’ve ever done,” Hoover said.  “When you hold your son in your arms for the first time, everything up to that point becomes meaningless.”

“He looks exactly like I did as a baby,” he told In Touch.  “But he’s changing every day and I can’t wait to see what happens next.”

On the other hand, the Preston reveals that, just like losing weight on Biggest Loser, parenting takes a lot of effort and patience since the baby “wakes up every three hours and wants to eat” and also requires a diaper change every hour.

Despite all the challenges, both Preston and Hoover agree that the child is heaven sent.

“He is a really good baby.  He doesn’t stay up all night crying,” Preston said.

Added Hoover, “He’s a laid-back dude!”

Meanwhile, Preston, who lost 95 pounds during her stint on The Biggest Loser, has revealed that she gained a lot of weight with the pregnancy.

“I’m more confident in my body than I’ve been in a long time,” Preston said.  “I don’t even remember all the anguish about the weight because Rex is so worth it.”
