Age of Love bachelor Mark Philippoussis will be participating in this year’s Celebrity Challenge at the Formula 1 ING Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.   The 31-year-old Australian tennis champion will be joined by other celebrated athletes from a broad range of sports, including ALF, rugby, netball, athletics, soccer, surfing, cricket and basketball.

“Having a passion for cars and motor sport, I am really looking forward to the opportunity to be part of all the GP action,” Philippoussis said.  “As a Melbourne boy, it will be great to see the city come alive for this event.”

Mark Philippoussis started playing tennis at the tender age of six.  He has worked hard to build a respectable sports career, having competed in such high-profile tennis competitions as the U.S. Open, Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon and helping to win the APT World Team Championship title for his country.  At this time, however, Philippoussis is still recovering from a recent knee injury and must walk on crutches for several more weeks.

Last year, Philippoussis embarked on a new challenge: finding love through the American reality dating series, Age of Love.  The show featured two groups of women – the “Kittens” and the “Cougars.”  The “Kittens” were comprised of women in their 20s, while the “Cougars” were comprised of women in their 40s.  All in all, there were 13 ladies vying for Philippoussis’ affections, but by the end of the competition, the tennis champion chose kitten Amanda Salinas, who, at the time, was a 25-year-old college student from Nashville, Tennessee.

After the Age of Love finale, which aired last August, reports began to circulate that Mark Philippoussis and Salinas were no longer dating.  Early last month, Philippoussis was reportedly seen with Perth model Siobhan Parekh.  The brunette stunner is most famous for winning FHM magazine’s Girl Next Door competition in 2006, and was once involved with controversial NBL player James Harvey.

The 2008 Formula 1 ING Australian Grand Prix will be held at Albert Park from March 13 to 16.
