CBS' The Big Bang Theory is now one of the fall season's few offerings to gain much positive attention. Whether it's due to its sidesplitting premise or the fact that it has built up an audience from its strong lead-in from How I Met Your Mother, which averages about 9 million viewers, the freshman series is now thriving and is expected to flourish with its full-season pickup.
Amidst all the comedy, there is one aspect of The Big Bang Theory that makes it realistically appealing: the real-life physics involved. While the show centers on two geeks as they attempt to explore their social life, the series also gives science some attention.

The Big Bang Theory, the latest creation of Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, is hitting some high notes given that CBS has just ordered more episodes of the freshman sitcom, making the series the first new comedy to receive a full season pickup this fall.
Starring Johnny Galecki (Leonard Hofstadter) and Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper), The Big Bang Theory centers on two socially inept geniuses who discovers more about life and love when they meet a beautiful woman named Penny, played by Kaley Cuoco. Also joining the comedic adventures are other geeks, Simon Helberg (Howard Wolowitz) and Kunal Nayyar (Rajesh Koothrappali).

Thus far, fans have been able to demonstrate their love for the CBS Monday night newcomer, The Big Bang Theory, given its positive audience buildup. But while supporters easily get tickled by its quirky ensemble and comedic storyline about two socially inept prodigies in their 20s who learn more about life and love when they meet a beautiful girl, some real-life physicists weigh in the show with mixed reviews and some backlash. Nevertheless, the sitcom gets the vote of Robyn Asimov.

So far, CBS' The Big Bang Theory is doing pretty well in the ratings, considering the minimal hype it gets from the media. While part of what makes the sitcom a hit are the witty dialogue, funny situations and comical characters, cast member Johnny Galecki reveals that the cast's enjoyable experiences, which easily render onscreen, also contribute to the success of the series.
“I'm feeling very fortunate. I love this group of people. We're having a fantastic time over there. They've really made having fun a priority, and I think that's coming across… I've had to think of some horrible, dark and fiercely nasty things in those moments. We're having so much fun, it's hard not to break sometimes,” he told TV Guide.

On screen, Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons are a couple of science geniuses, but don't expect to get right answers on your physics homework when you come across the two in the street.
“I couldn't do long division if you paid me,” Johnny Galecki, who plays lovestruck physicist Leonard on CBS' The Big Bang Theory, said. “I can't read or think about physics for 25 minutes without having an anxiety attack.”

Spectators can find out what the buzz is all about when CBS launches its new sitcom tonight at 8:30pm ET/PT, following the return of How I Met Your Mother.
Directed by James Burrows, The Big Bang Theory stars Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons) as two young, stereotypical nerds in their 20s who understands how the universe works, but doesn't have a clue when it comes to relationships and women.
