BIOGRAPHY

Olive Marie Osmond appears as a contestant in the fifth season of the ABC network’s celebrity reality TV dance competition series Dancing with the Stars. Marie and her partner Jonathan Roberts have earned perfect tens from the judges in the quickstep twice, on the seventh performance show and on the ninth performance show. As of the semi-finals, they have been the recipients of the lowest scores four times.

Marie fell unconscious at the start of the judges’ critique of her samba on the fifth performance show. The show cut to a five-minute commercial break while she recovered. Although she appeared to be fine, the show moved on to her scores without judges’ commentary. Afterwards, there were rumors circulating that she faked her fainting spell, but her rep denies all the rumors. Marie did not attend the seventh results show because her father had passed away that morning.

Marie made to the final, along with Helio Castroneves and Melanie Brown. She scored the lowest after the final performance show, and early on during the final results show, she was announced as the tenth eliminated celebrity dancer in the competition. Helio Casroneves and Julianne Hough went on to win the mirror ball trophy with their performance of the quickstep.

Marie is an American actress and singer who was born on October 13, 1959 in Ogden, Utah, and is well-known for being part of the show business clan, The Osmonds. However, she was never a part of her family’s band, and found her own success instead as a country music artist during the 70s and 80s. One of her most well-known tunes is the country pop ballad “Paper Roses,” which she produced and sang back in 1973. In 1976, Marie and her brother Donny hosted their own variety show, Donny and Marie, which is also something that she is remembered for, and it ran until 1979.

Born to George and Olive Osmond, Marie was raised along with eight brothers in a strict Mormon household as the only daughter and the youngest child. When she was young, her older brothers became known as The Osmonds in show business, performing and singing constantly on national television. Marie herself did not get heavily involved with her brothers’ work, though she did appear on The Andy Williams Show when she was three years old. She has performed in productions such as The King and I, The Sound of Music, and Maybe This Time. However, she also suffered from postpartum depression at one point.
