American actor John McCook was born on June 20, 1944 in Ventura, California. A graduate of California State University–Long Beach, he began acting in 1964, and making the rounds of guest roles in television shows, as well as acting stints in films. He has guest starred in shows such as Dragnet 1967, CHiPs, The Love Boat, Diff’rent Strokes, Dynasty, Fantasy Island, Magnum P.I., Hill Street Blues, Highway to Heaven, Remington Steele, L.A. Law, Moonlighting and Newhart.

McCook entered the world of daytime television with a role in The Young and the Restless; he played the role of Lance Prentiss from 1975 to 1980. However, he is perhaps most known for his role in the daytime soap The Bold and the Beautiful. He was one of the soap’s original cast members, playing the role of fashion designer Eric Forrester from 1987 to the present. He is the cofounder of the family’s fashion house, Forrester Creations, and at points was married to Stephanie Douglas (Susan Flannery), Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis). Throughout his career, he earned three Soap Opera Digest Award nominations, including one win; and one Daytime Emmy nomination.
