Biography

American actor and singer Jack Wagner was born on October 3, 1959 in Washington, Missouri. Originally inclined towards golf, he took up the sport when he was just ten years old and aspired to become a professional player. He also dabbled in drama, although he treated it as more of an extra-curricular program than a passion. When he failed to get a golf scholarship from the University of Arizona in 1980, he decided to enter instead with a drama scholarship—and was more successful.

Upon his graduation, Wagner moved to Los Angeles to work as a tour guide for Universal Studios while auditioning for acting roles. His big break came in 1983, when he joined the cast of the daytime soap General Hospital. He played the role of Frisco Jones until 1995. He was one half of one of the show’s most popular supercouples, having been paired with Felicia !$#!#mings, played by his real-life wife Kristina Wagner. Their storylines were marked by numerous problems; the same can be said of their actual marriage, as they filed for divorce twice, and was eventually finalized in 2006.

Wagner also had a stint in another daytime soap, Santa Barbara. He joined in 1991, taking over the role of seductive journalist Warren Lockridge. He played the role until the soap ended its run in 1993. He also was part of the prime time drama Melrose Place, joining its third season in 1994 as doctor Peter Burns, and staying until its end in 1999. Wagner then joined the cast of the short-lived drama Titans in 2000. His most recent television gig is in the daytime soap The Bold and the Beautiful. He originated the role of Dominick Marone, the owner of Spectra Fashions, the rival fashion house of Forrester Creations.

Wagner’s performances have attracted notice from award-giving bodies. He was nominated thrice for a Daytime Emmy award; he also won a Golden Rose Award from the 2006 Rose d’Or Light Entertainment Festival for his work on The Bold and the Beautiful.

Apart from his acting career, Wagner is also a known singer. He has released five albums, the first being All I Need in 1984. His biggest hit is that album’s title track, which went to number 2 in the Billboard pop charts, only kept off by Madonna’s “Like a Virgin.”
