'Hell's Kitchen' Season 6 Sneak Peek

July 3, 2009

En route to its July 21 premiere, Hell's Kitchen looks like it's going to be hotter than ever, when the Fox cooking show sizzles with 16 new contestants go under the knife, so to speak, of the infamous Chef Gordon Ramsay. The sixth season of Hell's Kitchen will kick off with a two-hour premiere to introduce the 16 people feature in its sixth season. Of particular interest was a rain of shrimps shown in the sneak peek released by Fox.

This season's winner of Hell's Kitchen will win the position of head chef at Araxi Restaurant in Whistler, British Columbia, in the first time a Canadian-set restaurant is featured on the show. He or she will also have the added privilege of joining executive chef James Walt in welcoming the world during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

On the first episode, Ramsay will go by the tradition, asking the contestants to cook him their signature dishes. The men and women will be pitted against each other in separate teams, with the winning team (and gender) awarded a special prize.

'Hell's Kitchen' Star in Town for Other Series

July 1, 2009

Just in time for Kitchen Nightmares' third season, infamous chef and Hell's Kitchen mainstay Gordon Ramsay is in South Florida to make over three restaurants.  First on the list of the sharp-tongued Brit and his Los Angeles-based production company is Le Bistro in Lighthouse Point. This will be followed by Anna Vincenzo's Ristorante Italiano in Boca Raton and Fleming: A Taste of Denmark in Miami.

Kitchen Nightmares, now on its third season, is Ramsay's other show apart from Hell's Kitchen, which itself recently revealed its 16 new contestants.  On the show, Ramsay tries to turn around the future of an ailing restaurant using his culinary and management skills.

Exclusive Interview: Paula Dasilva, Runner-Up of 'Hell's Kitchen' 5

May 15, 2009

This morning I had the pleasure of talking to Paula Dasilva, the runner-up on Season 5 of Hell's Kitchen, and by Chef Ramsay's own repeated admission, one of the best chefs to ever grace his cooking competition show.

Paula was many viewers' favorite (and I have to admit, my pick to win) going into the Hell's Kitchen finale against the ultimate winner Danny Veltri (whom I also interviewed today), and it's not hard to see why. She excelled all season, stalwart and consistent under Ramsay's trademark stressors, and left with her head held high, though she admitted to me she was just excited to finally get out of there! Well, who can blame her?

Exclusive Interview: Danny Veltri, Winner of 'Hell's Kitchen' 5

May 15, 2009

This season on Hell's Kitchen, I couldn't help but laugh when Danny Veltri made his first impression on audiences by claiming to be a culinary prodigy. Well, guess who's laughing now?

Last night the laid back chef from Edgewater, Florida became the youngest winner of Chef Gordon Ramsay's cooking competition show. Veltri was an accomplished 23-year-old before he even decided to apply for Hell's Kitchen, having already started and run his own restaurant for a number of years. And now his resume is all the more impressive: he just earned an executive chef position at a brand new fine dining restaurant in the Borgata Resort in Atlantic City and $250,000.

I had the pleasure of talking with Danny this afternoon after his exhausting but thrilling first day as the Hell's Kitchen winner. Among other things, we talked about that final stressful dinner service, what gave him the final edge over Paula, and when he'll be starting his exciting new job. Read on for the full mp3 audio and transcript of the interview.
