Cat Grant was extremely missed throughout Supergirl season 2, and her return in the final two episodes proved just how much her presence brings to the series. She’s the heart of the series, and her relationship with Kara (who she knows is Supergirl, finally) is the closest mother/daughter relationship Kara has (sorry, Eliza.) Cat sees Supergirl for who she is, even when she can’t see it herself. On Supergirl season 2 episode 22, Cat returned to CatCo as the leader, and returned her office to how it was before her departure. Could this, and a few of her lines, be a sign she’s returning on a more permanent basis?

Her reappearance on season 2 episode 21 came with a line: “Yes, I’ve been away for a while, but I’m back.” Is this the clearest sign that she’d be back for good? Paired with her taking back her position at CatCo, it’s a good sign.

Also, at The CW Upfronts, a brief description to gather advertisers for Supergirl season 3 mentioned:

Supergirl Season 2 Finale Recap: Can Kara Defeat Rhea … and Superman?>>>

“Now, Kara balances her work as a reporter for CatCo Worldwide Media with her work for the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO), a super-secret government organization whose mission is to keep National City — and the Earth — safe from sinister threats. At the DEO, Kara works for J’onn J’onzz (David Harewood), the Martian Manhunter, and alongside her sister, Alex, and best friend, Winn Schott (Jeremy Jordan). Also in Kara’s life are media mogul Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), a photo journalist who moonlights as Guardian, a masked vigilante, Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath), and Mon-El of Daxam (Chris Wood), whose planet was ravaged by Krypton’s destruction. As Kara struggles to navigate her relationships and her burgeoning life as a reporter, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.”

It’s true, Mon-El is mentioned too and his last appearance in season 2 seemed to be his final goodbye to Kara, but it’s different with Cat. It was very clear at the beginning of season 2 that she wouldn’t be returning as more than a guest star, so why mention her in the official synopsis?

For those who love Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) and are waiting for her return (permanently) to Supergirl, this press release gives hope that maybe the Queen of all Media is sticking around.
