Pun intended — Zooey Deschanel will be the first celebrity guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance season 9. When will she appear?

According to a report from Zap2It, Zooey Deschanel will be present for the So You Think You Can Dance 200th episode on Wednesday, June 27.

This timing means that Zooey Deschanel will have a say in the So You Think You Can Dance season 9 Top 20 dancers, slated to be chosen in the episode. While the actress doesn’t have much in the way of dance credentials — other than those Siri commercials, of course — she has done more than just be silly on New Girl. Deschanel has performed in the jazz cabaret act, If All the Stars Were Pretty Babies, and as half of the musical act, She & Him. In May, 2012, Loretta Lynn announced that Zooey Deschanel would star in a Broadway musical adaptation of her autobiography, Coal Miner’s Daughter.

So she kind of has credentials.

More importantly, at least for the show and for the network, Zooey Deschanel is a big name at the moment. Deschanel’s starring role in the FOX comedy New Girl has brought in a lot of press — and several award nominations, including a nod for the Golden Globe best comedy actress award. This appearance thus follows in the footsteps of previous guest judges like Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family), Kristin Chenoweth (Glee, Pushing Daisies, GCB) and Christina Applegate (Up All Night).

As a judge, Zooey Deschanel will have to assist Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy in choosing a slate of 20 dancers out of the 35 performers who made it through the So You Think You Can Dance season 9 Vegas callbacks.

Will she be any good? Are we headed for dancing disaster? How do you feel about the guest judges anyway? Leave your comments below!
