Newfound endeavors have lured Zach Braff away from Scrubs, and he’s confirmed the news that he’ll soon be leaving the show.  After years of playing the clumsy Dr. John ‘J.D.’ Dorian on the series, Braff claims that the eighth season of the hit comedy will indeed be his last.  The rumors regarding his departure from the program have plagued fans ever since the story circulated.  Now that Braff has finally proven the tales himself, what’s next?

During his visit to Tel Aviv, Braff spoke to the publication Haaretz, which is Israel’s oldest daily newspaper.  He confessed that he’s enjoying the freedom now that he’s quit his role on Scrubs.  But that won’t be the last we’ll hear of the actor.  He can’t help but be excited about the thought of branching out of television and working on more movie roles.

Braff said that being contracted to the program made him feel restricted.  Nevertheless, he enjoyed his stint on the show.  “(I left Scrubs because) there’s so much I want to do with my life.  (It was) the most amazing experience of my life, but when you work on a television series, they own you,” said the star.

“I want to take piano lessons, I want to study at university, I want to travel, I want to do other parts, make another movie.  So it was time to branch out and start a new chapter,” he added.

It seems as though the actor/director/writer has already begun enjoying his right to freedom.  Other than going to Israel, he gained his pilot’s license recently.  These were just some of the things he thinks the series’ insurers wouldn’t allow him to do.

“I don’t think they’d let me come here (to Tel Aviv). They wouldn’t let me take flying lessons,” Braff exclaimed.

Apparently, Braff isn’t alone with his decision.  Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence and co-star Judy Reyes have also expressed their intent on leaving the show.  Many might think that next year’s eighth season will be the last of the Emmy-winning show.  However, the comedy and drama of Scrubs retains the possibility of the show’s continuity.
