Supernatural fans are in for a long wait as they become hungry for more details about upcoming plots of Eric Kripke’s paranormal thriller.  Luckily, I’ve stumbled upon a casting scoop that will hopefully ease several weeks of waiting before The CW series returns next year.

According to Entertainment Weekly‘s Michael Ausiello, viewers can expect Barry Bostwick, John Rubinstein and Richard Libertini to join the cast of Supernatural for at least one episode.  While some of these names may not ring a bell, they have familiar faces that have graced a number of movies and TV shows.  Another thing they have in common is that they’re all featured in Tara Ariano and Adam Sternbergh’s Hey, It’s That Guy!, a guide to identifying “famous” character actors and actresses, which is sort of a salute to the unsung heroes of the entertainment industry.

Perhaps best known for playing Majors in the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Bostwick has lingered on the TV circuit with his roles on Spin City as mayor Randall Winston, on Ugly Betty as Roger Adams and as Oliver Gates on Law and Order: SVU.

John Rubinstein, on the other hand, has portrayed the recurring role of U.S. Defense Attorney Barry Colburn on Day Break, Linwood Murrow, the layer for Los Angeles branch of Wolfram & Hart whose children were taken by the Senior Partners, on Angel, and three different characters on Star Trek Enterprise.

As for Richard Libertini, he has recently guest starred on Monk and Numb3rs, and worked in movies such as Everybody Wants to Be Italian and Jane Doe: How to Fire Your Boss.

Supernatural fans can expect the trio to grace a magician-centered episode slated to air on January 22 with the title “Criss Angel Is A Douche Bag,” where Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are faced with magicians delving in black magic.  Stay tuned for more updates!
