After playing Ziva David for 10 seasons on NCIS, Cote de Pablo has decided to leave the long-running procedural that ultimately made her a household name. Rumors about the 33-year-old actress’ departure first circulated when her character got injured in a car crash and subsequently resigned from the agency last season. Speculations were further fueled when her contract expired at the end of season 10, making her the only cast member without a deal.

In a joint statement, CBS and producer CBS TV Studios confirmed the news: “We respect Cote’s decision, thank her for being an important part of the NCIS team, and for eight terrific years playing Ziva David. Cote and CBS share a great respect for the NCIS audience, and we look forward to working with her and the producers on appropriate closure in this chapter of Ziva’s story.”

Since joining the cast of NCIS in season 3, Cote de Pablo has won an Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actress in Television in 2006 and an ALMA Award for Favorite Television Actress in 2011. She was also nominated for an Imagen Award in 2008, 2009, and 2011, as well as an ALMA Award in 2008 and 2009.

“I’ve had eight great years with NCIS and Ziva David,” the actress said in a statement. “I have huge respect and affection for Mark, Gary, Michael, David, Rocky, Pauley, Brian, Sean, all of the team and CBS. I look forward to finishing Ziva’s story.”

Cote de Pablo is expected to grace the beginning of season 11, which will kick off production next week and is set to premiere on September 24.
