In the season 4 episode “Cabin Fever,” Richard Alpert visited a young John Locke and gave him the classic Dalai Lama test, placing six items on a table and asking Locke to choose the one that belongs to him. When Locke chose the knife, Alpert was disappointed because it was incorrect.
Fans were left wondering what item was the correct one. The reason I bring this up is because in the season 5 premiere, one of those items makes a return appearance, and it is very likely that it was the item Locke was supposed to choose.
As a reminder, the other five items were:
-A baseball glove
-A Book of Laws
-A vial of sand grains
-A compass
-A “Mystery Tales” comic book
