. The show currently gets an average of 6.9 million viewers on its first airing.
"This series is turning the traditional procedural drama on its head and is attracting a loyal following for us on Friday nights," NBC president Robert Greenblatt said in a statement. "We love where it's going creatively and we're excited to deliver more episodes to our audience."
, a series about a homicide detective protecting humanity from supernatural straight-from-the-storybook creatures, is the only new hour-long series from NBC to get a full season pickup this year (after The Playboy Club was cut
, and production on Prime Suspect
wrapped up without a pickup). NBC previously gave full season pickups to comedies Up All Night
NBC is even giving Grimm a special Thursday airing: an episode will air on December 8 at 10pm, Prime Suspect's current time slot.
