Over the years on Glee, we’ve gotten to know the parents of some of our favorite characters. And that tradition is about to continue. TVLine is reporting that comedienne Aisha Tyler, currently a co-host on CBS’ daytime talk show The Talk, has been cast as Jake Puckerman’s mother in a guest starring role, and will “offer some much-needed parental guidance.”

Ever since the younger Puckerman came onto the scene, we’ve seen him act a lot like the Puck we’ve gotten to know over the past three years. The two half-brothers even met each other for the first time in episode 2.

Adam Shankman has confirmed via Twitter that Tyler will first appear in episode 10, the Christmas episode, which the So You Think You Can Dance judge is currently directing: “With @jacob_artist and @aishatyler in Breadstix, considering cheesecake. gleetv #glee Xmas!”

What do you think of this casting choice? Are you excited to see Aisha Tyler as Jake’s mother? And will she be able to talk some sense into Puck 2.0?

Glee returns this Thursday at 9pm on FOX.
