As was previously reported, Game of Thrones season 7 will have a little extra star power. Ed Sheeran is set to appear in the upcoming season. While it is not unusual for Game of Thrones to have celebrity cameos, according to the singer, it sounds like his appearance will be bigger than any previous celebrity appearance. TVGuide reports that Ed Sheeran will sing to and interact with Game of Thrones fan-favorite character Arya Stark.

Game of Thrones Season 7 Photos: Where Is Daenerys Targaryen?>>> Sheeran is not the first musical celebrity to appear on Game of Thrones. He is not even the first musician to led his talents to the series. Will Champion (of Coldplay), Mastodon, and Sigur Rós have all appeared on Game of Thrones and their appearances have involved a bit of musical touch. For the most though, those cameos sort of melted into the background whereas Sheeran, evidently, is front and center.

“I just do a scene with Maisie [Williams],” Sheeran said in an interview with The Hits Radio. “I don’t really know what I’m allowed to say … I sing a song and then she [Arya] goes, ‘Oh, that’s a nice song,’ and I go, ‘It’s a new one’ and then there’s other lines.”

While Sheeran might just be sharing a scene with Arya Stark, it sounds like Arya might be in close proximity to another member of her family. Later in the interview Ed Sheeran expressed his excitement for being able to go to bathroom near Kit Harrington, otherwise known as Jon Snow. “One star-struck moment,” he said of his experience. “Taking a pee next to Kit Harrington before I knew him, obviously being a big Game of Thrones fan.”

Given the way that Game of Thrones films over several locations with just a handful of actors at a time, this does sound like Arya might be reuniting with her brother (secretly cousin) in season 7. Arya was last seen killing Walder Frey which is the closest, geographically, she has been to Jon since the first season. At the very least Arya and Jon might be in the same location at the same time without ever meeting, which wouldn’t be unheard of for Game of Thrones

So what do you think? Does Sheeran’s interview suggest that Arya and Jon could reunite? Could Sheeran’s character survive an encounter with Arya? Are you excited to hear Sheeran sing?
