'Fringe' Awesome Quotes: 'Nothing As It Seems'
On this week's Fringe, the team investigates a case that Peter realizes is from the former timeline but with slight differences. Olivia assists with the case even though the FBI placed her on temporary leave for her memory situation. The Fringe Division tracks down a few of the individuals involved in genetic engineering geared towards creating a porcupine-bat-like superior species, but fail to capture the first victim's sister, her partner, and the man in charge, David Robert Jones. The end reveals that there are numerous creatures of this nature locked away on a freighter in the middle of the ocean. Here are the 10 best quotes from "Nothing As It Seems."

#10.
Olivia: Porcupines are nocturnal. They sleep during the day.
Walter: So do vampires.

- I am kind of surprised that Fringe has not done anything with vampire-like characters. I think they could do a very unique take on it.

#9.
Olivia: If Conrad's not behind this, who is?
Walter: Perhaps the Samarians. His tattoo. It's cuneiform. I'm not sure of the significance of the symbol, but I'm fairly certain it's Samarian. Not my favorite ancient language. I prefer Yiddish. Belly's father taught it to me. Charming man.

- How many ancient languages does Walter know off-hand? Because my repertoire is limited.

#8.
Peter: Olivia, vacation's not such a bad idea. Vermont's beautiful this time of year. I know you don't like skiing, but as long as we've got a rug and a fireplace I think we'll be fine. *Peter's phone rings*
Olivia: You should get that. I think the 70s are calling.

- I love when Olivia says humorous things to Peter. It gives us a nice insight into her relaxed home life.

#7.
Olivia: My point is, David Robert Jones is still out there somewhere, and instead of pursuing him like I should have, I've been forced to take every psych evaluation and field trial the Bureau can think of. I've had CAT scans, MRI's, peed in every cup. My sitting here now trying to convince an FBI shrink, no offense, that I am fit to return to active duty is pointless.

- You would think that the Fringe Division would call her condition "just another day at the office." I would like to see Olivia break down with concern about what has been going on. She has been taking it a little too well on the outside, that I image everything is bottling up inside.

#6.
Olivia: I work in Fringe Division. Weird is a matter of degrees.

- It's funny how "weird" on this show doesn't even begin to describe what goes on. Some call it unbelievable. I call it great writing.

#5.
Walter: I have just made some peanut butter and bacon sandwiches.
Lincoln: Thanks anyways.
Walter: And because, don't be alarmed by this, but I think you may be infected.

- Nice, Walter. Classic attempt to lessen the effect of the bad news by prefacing it with good news. That's if you call peanut butter and bacon sandwiches good news.

#4.
Peter: Do you want to talk about it or should we just pretend like we already did? Olivia.
Lincoln: She's your Olivia. I get it. I mean, I don't really get it, how she can suddenly become this other version of herself. Different circumstances, I might think that you were drugging her, doing something to her.

- I can't figure out just how deep Lincoln's feelings for Olivia run. It's no doubt he has feelings for her, but the way he has been reacting makes it look like a simple crush.

#3.
Nina: I suppose every version of you is stubborn.

- I think one of Olivia's defining characteristics is her stubbornness, and not in a bad way. It's more of a deep desire to figure out the truth or do what she believes is right instead of being stubborn just for the sake of it.

#2.
Olivia: OK, here's a good one. According to Mayan prophecy, a serpent rope will appear in the center of the Milky Way.
Peter: Is that when the world ends or when the aliens arrive?
Astrid: Apparently that's when a celestial ship emerges and a bearded serpent god comes down to bring enlightenment.
Peter: No. Actually the celestial ship turns into the serpent god. If you want tot get technical.

- Where did this conversation come from and why do we not see more like it?

#1.
Broyles: If you're sixty percent of the Olivia I knew, you're still better than ninety percent of the agents I've ever worked with. And a Fringe Division with an Olivia Dunham is better than a Fringe Division without her.

- I was rewatching the pilot not that long ago and realized just how far Olivia and Broyles relationship has come. From not being able to stand one another to working side by side and complimenting the other. That's some wonderful development.
