Goran Visnjic and
Maura Tierney, cast members on the medical drama
ER, have confirmed their departure from the long running and award-winning program.
According to TV Guide, both actors hinted on their exit in February. Tierney said, “I’m pretty sure I’m leaving after next year.” As for Visnjic, he expects to remain on the show for less than five episodes next season.
“We’re still talking about how and when we’re going to do it. But it’s kind of a logical progression because every summer I want to do a movie and…there are always problems with my scheduling. I think it’s a nice run to be on a show for eight years,” Visnjic added.
On a similar note, Tierney reveals that she still takes delight in doing the show, however there are other ventures she would like to partake in such as doing movies. At present, she is filming a movie entitled
Semi-Pro with Will Ferrel and Woody Harrelson.
Visnjic, a 34-year old native of Croatia, currently plays Dr. Luka KovaÄ on
ER. He joined the show on its sixth season in late 1999 and became the lead character at the start of season 12. Early this year, it was rumored that Visnjic has decided to depart from the show. Prior to his inclusion on
ER, he appeared on shows like The
Peacemaker, Committed, and
Practical Magic, and worked in the film
Rounders.
As for Tierney, this 42-year old native of Boston, Massachusetts, is best known for her role as Abby Lockhart on
ER. Her other acting credits included
Student Exchange, NewsRadio, Forces of Nature, Liar Liar and
Primary Colors.
As of the moment, there is no word on when their exact exit will be, or how their characters will end up. To catch more of Dr. Luka KovaÄ and Abby Lockhart’s roller coaster love affair, watch
ER every Thursdays at 10/9C on NBC.
