Supernatural finally returns with new episodes next week.  If you are expecting a burst of Winchester mythology to be unveiled, however, guess again!  Supernatural is serving up yet another respite episode to their barely serialized plot titled “Hollywood Babylon”.  Even if you’re going out of your mind waiting for the Winchester story to take center stage again, though, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the chills Supernatural has in store with “Hollywood Babylon”.  If your guessing that Supernatural is making a self referential statement with this baby, give yourself a gold star.  Forward for the preview.

Here is what TheCW has to say about “Hollywood Babylon”:

Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) make a trip to Hollywood to investigate the death of one of the actors on a horror film set after rumors begin that he was killed by a ghost. They discover the death was a publicity hoax but when the executive producer and a studio executive are killed, Sam and Dean realize they are dealing with a haunted set.

Fan’s of Sam Raimi’s failed horror serial American Gothic will be in for a treat with this episode as it features Gothic’s Gary Cole as a suspicious actor in a horror film.

The episode will be full of Hollywood in-jokes including swipes at CW mates the Gilmore Girls, and appearances by director McG who is producing the fictional horror film “Hell Hazers II:  The Reckoning”.

The action of the episode is based on real urban myths concerning haunted movie sets such as “Three Men and a Baby” and “Poltergeist”.  The Winchester boys will be posing as PA’s on the set and will be annoying everyone with their constant nitpicking of the scripts bogus supernatural chants and visages.

After Hollywood Babylon, Supernatural holds off for one more episode before finally getting neck deep into the Winchester mythology for the last three episodes of the season.
