ABC announced the official cast for season 6 of
Dancing with the Stars early last week on its spin-off show,
Dance War, putting to rest all the rumors that were swirling around the blogosphere about which semi-obscure celebrity would be next to strap on their dancing shoes and take a twirl on the floor.
Among those who were rumored early on to be on the network's top-rated dancing show were Florence Henderson, Cheryl Ladd,
Monica Seles and Brooke Hogan.
In Touch reported confidently that
Will and Grace actor
Sean Hayes and Maria Maples, ex-wife of business mogul Donald Trump, as well as
Priscilla Presley, were going to be gracing the dance floor this March. Among these, only Monica Seles and Priscilla Presley have made the cut and will be appearing on the show.

As I have stated before, this season's actual line-up is a pretty strong list. I've actual heard of almost all of them, and I know people who have heard of the remaining ones, so I've got my bases covered. There aren't any
Albert Reeds (those who want to be famous to more than 20 people someday). And I daresay there aren't any
Ian Zierings either (those who would someday like to regain the smattering of limelight they once enjoyed).
The strength of the cast is a testament to how popular
Dancing with the Stars has really become. Instead of trolling for obscure has-beens with the promise of spending two nights a week back in the public eye, it seems that now bona fide Minor Stars and other famous people really want to go on the show. For example, BuddyTV reported last November that French-Canadian songstress Celine Dion would like nothing more than to beat her breast in the arms of one of the talented professional dancers on
Dancing with the Stars.
"I want to dance," Dion told
TV Guide last November. "For me, it's not about a contest. It's about having the privilege to share the dancing floor with the most amazing, talented people, and to share music. It's not about winning. It's about dancing as many times as possible."
