While many speculate that
Larry David, creator and lead star of
Curb Your Enthusiasm, often ignores his guest stars to the point of rudeness due to his accustomed prickly character, Lawless maintains that he's actually a darling to work with.
“He's quiet and standoffish and doesn't really want to say hello or anything, but I was determined to be as obnoxious as possible. When I shot the episode, I had just received the new Xena [greeting] card that Hallmark puts out, so I wrote on it "Welcome to the Lucy Lawless Experience" and gave it to Larry. You open it up and it screams out the Xena war cry. He loved me ever after. So my advice to anyone trying to get on Larry's good side: Have your own Hallmark card,” she told
TV Guide.
“To me, that was the ideal working situation. It is all unscripted, but everyone is totally relaxed. Larry David is such a doll. I so enjoyed working with him, and we had a good time…. I seem to make him laugh. I don't know why,” she said in a different interview.
Aside from Lawless, former tennis star John McEnroe, who gets into a screaming match with Larry, Ben Stiller, who will be making a return appearance, and California Senator Barbara Boxer will also grace the show this season.
Curb Your Enthusiasm airs every Sunday at 10pm on HBO.
