Producer and Emmy-Award nominee, Mark Reisman, has gotten fans hooked on this one. If you love beautiful storytelling with a spice of comic relief, then you’ve got to love “Sydney to the Max.”
Who are the cast members on “Sydney to the Max,” and is the show still running or canceled?
This article discusses all of that and more.
Is “Sydney to the Max” Canceled?
“Sydney to the Max” premiered for its first season on January 25, 2019, and so far, the show has aired three seasons — 63 episodes in all. After a great second season and an even better third season, fans are wondering if there will be any new episodes. The finale of the third season, titled “Any Given Sunday Brunch,” was aired on November 26, 2021, and it appears like that’s where it all ends — the show may have been canceled and might not return for a fourth season.
Why Was “Sydney to the Max” Canceled?
On January 1, 2022, in what seemed like a goodbye message, star actress Ruth Righi took to her Instagram to thank other cast members and fans for her experience over the three seasons aired.
The post immediately drew a lot of emotional comments from fellow cast members and fans.
“What a wild ride! Happy I gained a sista for life,” said @christianjsimon, who played ‘Leo’ on the series. @ianreedkesler also commented, “My TV daughter forever… the best.”
Fans and lovers of the show consider the post an indirect announcement that the show has been canceled. If that’s true, the most probable reason for this could be so Ruth could focus on her role in the ongoing Disney Junior show, “Eureka,” where she voices the title character.
About the “Sydney to the Max” Cast
A television show is often as good as the cast on it. One of the highlights of the series, “Sydney to the Max,” is the cast who played the key roles.
Here’s a quick highlight of the actors who played major roles in the show:
Born September 7, 2005, Ruth Mouma Righi stars as Sydney Reynolds or ‘Syd’ in “Sydney to the Max.” The American actress and singer began dancing and acting as early as age three. Before appearing on the show, she performed in a few plays, including “Really Rossei” and “School of Rock.” Though still young, Ruth has garnered some popularity and is considered one of the most gifted teen artists in the American TV industry. Fans and critics have widely applauded her performance on the family-comedy show. The teen actress presently combines acting with schooling and is quite active on social media — Instagram especially.
Ian Reed Kesler:
Ian Reed Kesler is definitely no new face in the American television industry. The actor is famed for his recurring role as Sensei Ty on “Kickin’ It,” a Disney comedy television series. Kesler plays the role of adult Max Reynolds in “Sydney to the Max.” Max is a stern and protective single dad doing all he can to raise his daughter well since he lost his wife, Alisha. The show features flashbacks to the ’90s when Max was still a child. Kesler has appeared on other shows such as “Suits” and “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, & Dawn.” As well as in movies such as “500 Days of Summer,” “Off The Menu” and “Lucifer.”
Canadian-born comedian and actress, Caroline Rhea, portrays the role of Judy Reynolds, the mother of Max Reynolds and grandmother of Sydney Reynolds, in “Sydney to the Max.” As a stand-up comedian, Rhea has performed alongside the likes of Chris Rock, Marc Maron, Dave Attell, and Jim Gaffigan. She made her Hollywood debut in NBC’s “Pride & Joy,” co-starring alongside Jeremy Piven. However, she gained prominence following her role in ABC’s “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” as Hilda Spellman.
American actress and singer Cassidey Fralin plays the role of young Alisha, Leo’s cousin and future wife of Max in “Sydney to the Max.” Cassidey is best known for her roles in “We Belong Together,” “Always and 4Ever” and “Blackish.” The young actress recently threw a star-studded bash to celebrate her sixteenth birthday. The “Wonderland” themed bash had over 100 of her industry friends in attendance.
Christian J. Simon is an actor and voice actor. The Emmy-nominee began pursuing a career in entertainment in 2016 and has since appeared in multiple television shows. Christian portrays the character Leo in “Sydney to the Max.” Leo is Max’s childhood friend and is seen a lot in the flashbacks to when Max was young. You barely see young Max without his best friend Leo.
Ava Kolker is an American actress, model, and singer. She made her debut in 2011 at age four when she made a guest appearance in “American Horror Story” and has featured in several movies and TV shows since then. She is, however, famed for her role in “Girl Meets World.” Ava Kolker portrays Olive Rozalski in “Sydney to the Max.” Olive is Sydney’s best friend. Ava has a huge online following, especially on Instagram, where she has 1m followers.
American child actor, Jackson Dollinger, portrays the role of young Max Reynolds in “Sydney to the Max” which is probably his most notable role to date. Prior to appearing on the show, Jackson has appeared on shows like “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “Loosely Exactly Nicole.” Dollinger currently lives with his family in Los Angeles, California.
