We’re a month and a day away from the fall premiere of The Voice, and the season is slowly taking shape — Ed Sheeran is joining Team Christina as an adviser during the Battle Rounds. Check out that and other news surrounding the hit singing competition.

Ed Sheeran to Advise Team Christina

Four judges swivel around in their red seats on The Voice, but only one has found an adviser for the Battle Rounds. Ed Sheeran will mentor Christina Aguilera’s singers during the Oct. 14 and 15 episodes that pit two singers from the same team with the same song. Their coach ultimately decides who moves on.

Sheeran, a British singer-songwriter, is best known for his hit “The A Team,” his duets with Taylor Swift and Elton John and writing songs for One Direction. His style of singing is a stark contrast to Christina’s belt-out diva-mode, so we’ll have to see if opposites attract and whether they can find a winner. And perhaps it also means she’ll stay away from her all-diva team like she assembled in season 3.

In the past, Team Christina has brought Sia Furler, Jewel, Lionel Richie and Billie Joe Armstrong to guide her singers, but she’s yet to develop a champion.

The Voice is currently filming right now, as evidenced by this Blake Shelton tweet: Filming more of @NBCTheVoice today… Drunk…

Season 5 of The Voice premieres September 23 at 8pm on NBC.

Cassadee Pope to Perform on America’s Got Talent

Cassadee Pope, the season 3 winner from Team Blake, will perform on America’s Got Talent next week when the talent competition moves to the semi-final rounds.

She’ll be singing on the Wednesday, August 28 episode, taking the stage after One Direction.

Currently, Pope is the opening act on tour with Rascal Flatts. Her debut album, “Frame by Frame,” is scheduled to be released October 8. The first single from the album “Wasting All These Tears,” shot up to #1 on the iTunes Country Singles Chart.

Just before her album drops, CMT will premiere The Untitled Cassadee Pope Project, a six-episode, behind-the-scenes look into her life. It will start airing October 4 at 9pm.

Danielle Bradbery’s Acoustic Single

The Voice reigning champ Danielle Bradbery hit #1 on the iTunes Counrty Singles Chart with “Heart of Dixie,” and she recently showed off a new single at the Indiana state fair. The song is called “Never Like This,” and she performed an acoustic version of it. Her album is set to debut sometime in the fall.
