Last week on The Fashion Show, we narrowed down our contestants to the final four. James-Paul, Reco, Daniella, and Anna are the remaining contestants. TRESemme will be providing the $125,000 grand prize.

Danielle plays up the fact that she’s young, awesome and recently graduated. Anna shows up next and her story is indescript. Reco comes in and asks Daniella if she’s been smoking crack just to emphasize that he’s from the ghetto. James-Paul is the wildcard who explains that he’s a bit too experimental for most people.

Then there are our judges. Isaac Mizrahi and Kelly Rowland emphasize that they haven’t seen the contestants for ten weeks. Isaac claims that the biggest names in fashion will be at the show. Fern Mallis and Glenda Bailey (editor of Harper’s Bazaar) are the only people he mentions. Then, curveball!, Isaac Mizrahi announces that they will be eliminating one contestant before America gets to vote.

The night before the fashion show, Reco rolls out his ghetto cardboard box of completed clothing by 3am. The day of the fashion show, all the contestants seem excited except for Reco. And of course, the zipper on his center piece breaks. He sews it shut as the director is pulling the models away.

The Fashion Show:

Daniella:
Her inspiration changes from armor to the strong women in her family. There’s a lot of leather and gross green. Daniella wrote a song for her show. It’s creepy bad techno. Kind of like her clothing. And of course, it’s all pants and a couple of skirts. Reco says he loves it but it looks kind of cheap to me. Pleather maybe?

Reco
Reco pimps Chattanooga. His shows is called “The Journey.” He works the gold and black. Isaac gets picky when a model has to readjust her short skirt. The wedding dress goes over really well with the audience. I’m not sure it’s a cohesive collection, but who knows. At the end of the show, the model has a lot of difficulty walking in the wedding dress. Second blight on his record.

Anna
Inspired the painting “The Garden of Earthly Delights” by Hieronymus Bosch. Anna uses florals for her dresses again. It’s very Anna. I feel she has the most distinct style. As the looks go down the runway, I can pinpoint the episode this season that Anna is drawing from. A bit easy, but I guess you have to go with what works. Even though I can see what she’s drawing from, I think it was the best thus far.

James-Paul
His inspiration was indigenous people wearing Western clothing. It’s very grey and black. James-Paul calls it futuristic but I feel it’s bleak. A Matrix future if you know what I mean. I feel like he was playing dress up. Anna calls James-Paul a “designer’s designer” – It’s interesting but it’s not something everyday people would wear.

Judging:

Two objectives: Design a collection and blow the judges’ minds. Isaac Mizrahi claims they did both. The judges will pick a favorite and give them $10,000. We’ll find out next week. Anna’s collection is wearable but the judges point out that she was harking back to her successes this season. She cries. Daniella’s collection evidently focused on the shoulders. I missed that. Isaac thinks it’s not sexy. Isaac can recall Reco’s collection from memory but Fern Mallis wasn’t impressed. James-Paul is overpowering and has no hanger appeal. They tell him to simplify his clothing.

The final three are Daniella, James-Paul and Anna. Reco has been eliminated. Wow, that’s a twist. He gracefully leaves.
