Jared Padalecki isn’t the only Winchester brother with a new movie coming out this year. Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles has an interesting role in the upcoming independent feature film Ten Inch Hero. And by “interesting,” I mean “he has a blue Mohawk.”

According to the website, Ten Inch Hero’s story “revolves around a young woman (Elisabeth Harnois) who comes to Santa Cruz in search of the young daughter she gave up for adoption, and ends up working with a cast of interesting lovelorn characters in a funky submarine sandwich shop owned by a hippie surfer.”

Jensen Ackles’ character, Priestly, certainly looks very different from the character Ackles plays on Supernatural, the demon-hunting classic rock-loving Dean Winchester, who travels around with his brother Sam (Jared Padalecki) in a black Impala.

The Ten Inch Hero website says of his character Priestly: “The irreverent and horny Priestly dispenses free-wheeling comic advice to everyone, but how long can he hide his own feelings?”

Ten Inch Hero also stars Clea Duvall (recently seen as Audrey Hanson on Heroes) as Jen, Daneel Harris (One Tree Hill’s Rachel) as Tish, Sean Patrick Flanery as Noah, and Alice Krige as Zo.

Ten Inch Hero was recently shown at the Newport Beach Film Festival as well as the Phoenix Film Festival and reportedly received “really great” reviews. The film will be shown at the Santa Cruz Film Festival this weekend, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rio Theater. There’s no news yet on whether it’ll be distributed more widely.

Before Supernatural, Jensen Ackles was best known for his roles on Days of Our Lives, Smallville, Dawson’s Creek and Dark Angel.

Supernatural has not yet been officially renewed for a third season, but is expected to be on the CW’s schedule when it is announced next month. There are three more episodes set to air this season.
