So You Think You Can Dance is presently holding auditions across major cities of the United States, looking for outstanding dancers for the much awaited fourth season of the FOX competitive dance reality series.  Since its premiere in 2005, the show has never included Utah in its roster of audition venues.  But seeing last year’s champ, Sabra Johnson and season 2 top 10 dancer Allison Holker, who both hail from Utah, producers are now looking forward to scout out talent in the Beehive State.

Utah was the most recent audition site for the upcoming season of So You Think You Can Dance.  Tryouts were held in Salt Lake City at the Capitol Theatre on Monday, February 4, where hundreds of hopefuls waited in line for a chance to land a spot on the show.  Prior to the Utah auditions, tryouts were held in Charleston, South Carolina at the Charleston Music Hall on February 1 and in Dallas, Texas on January 17 at the McFarlin Memorial Auditorium, which was the first audition ever to commence for the upcoming season.

“We’re expecting high talent from Utah,” Jeff Thacker, supervising producer of the show and a former dancer and choreographer, said.

“But you know the thing is, it’s not just about the dancing. It’s about the people.  We’re not looking for one style of dancer.  They’ve got to have personality and charisma, something that makes them stand out…I keeping telling them, ‘Make sure I remember you,’” he added.

Next round of tryouts for So You Think You Can Dance will be held on Thursday, February 21 in Washington, D.C. at the Atlas Performing Arts Center, followed by the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, California on March 6, and the Milwaukee Theatre in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on March 20. After that, producers will be returning to Salt Lake City, Utah at the Salt Palace Convention Center on April 3.
