Joey Fatone, who serves as host on NBC’s karaoke and spelling bee-style competition The Singing Bee, and Mel B., English pop singer best known as one of the members of the girl group the Spice Girls, are teaming up to show viewers the most unique way to get to know your co-workers.  On June 29 at 9pm on TLC, the duo will begin their search for America’s most surprising talent in the least likely places with the new series The Singing Office.

Each week, Joey Fatone and Mel B. will ambush an office, hold a spur-of-the-moment audition in front of the employee’s co-workers and enlist a team of the five best singers.  After that, it’s off to boot camp where the hosts guide their teams to get ready for their time in the spotlight by coaching them on both their performance and their vocals.  Ultimately, the teams head to the stage for a choreographed sing-off to earn a spot in the finale and a chance to win the $50,000 grand prize.

“It’s been great getting people to show off their singing talents and giving them a chance to live out their dreams on stage.  You can tell they’re loving this unexpected opportunity,” the Singing Bee host said.

“It’s been a blast we have found some amazing singers right there on the job,” Mel B. added.  “I think we’ve uncovered some real talent and it’s been amazing giving everyday people a chance of a lifetime!”

Meanwhile, the network is supporting the premiere of The Singing Office with a 10-market radio endorsement that calls DJs and listeners alike to partake in singing competitions after a week of virtual “auditions” on-air or online.  Daily finalists will win an iKaraoke and compete at station-hosted events where the grand-prize winner in each market will score an HDTV/Karaoke Home Theater.
