Another Carly is headed back to Port Charles.  Soap veteran Sarah Brown is set to return on General Hospital in early 2008.  Many are speculating that the 32-year-old actress will be reprising the role she originally played on the long running soap, although details on how Brown will fit onto the canvass have not yet been disclosed.  Nevertheless, it has been confirmed that Laura Wright, the 37-year-old actress who has been portraying Carly since 2005, will still remain on the drama.

“Laura’s job is secure,” a representative of General Hospital told SOAPnet.com.  “Viewers will just have to stay tuned to see what Sarah’s going to be doing.”

The role of Carly Corinthos was first played by Brown in 1996, who received three Daytime Emmy Awards for her portrayal during her 5-year stint.  She decided to pursue other opportunities and left the show in 2001.

“I am not leaving because of money issues or contract issues,” Brown said in a statement at the time.  “I am leaving because my heart is telling me I’m done.”

After General Hospital, Brown appeared on numerous television series, including Crossing Jordan and Without A Trace.  She returned to daytime soap to play the role of Julia Larrabee on As the World Turns from August 2004 to March 2005.  Subsequently, she also became a regular on Cold Case in the fall of 2005 but was let go after five episodes.  On the big screen, she was cast in the comedy Big Momma’s House 2 and recently guest starred in an episode of K-Ville.

When Brown left General Hospital, Tamara Braun took over the character but vacated the role in 2005 when Jennifer Bransford was cast to replace her.  However, this move was not well-received by soaps fans, and after six months Bransford was replaced by daytime vet Laura Wright, who plays the character at present.
