The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks has taken steps to end her marriage to Apollo Nida. The two have been married since 2009. They have two children together, Ayden, 4 and Dylan, 1.

“[Phaedra] has retained an attorney with the intent of amicably ending her marriage,” Phaedra’s rep, Steven Honig, told E! News.

Last month, Apollo started his eight year prison sentence after pleading guilty to fraud this summer. There was also an incident on the day he was supposed to surrender himself where he instead reportedly went to Phaedra’s home and caused a disturbance.

“She is now putting all of her energy into ensuring the well-being of her two children and making decisions that are in their best interests,” her rep said after Apollo was imprisoned. “This situation has put a tremendous strain on Phaedra and her family and she is working hard to bring back a sense of normalcy to everyone’s lives.”

This isn’t Apollo’s first extended stay in prison. He was incarcerated for six years for car theft from 2003 to 2009. The two married soon after he was released.

“When he does speak to Phaedra, it’s always about money,” an insider told E! News. “He owes a huge debt in restitution and he wants to know if she’s going to help him with it. ‘Are you going to give me money?’ is always his question. He still wants her financial support.”

“Phaedra is really disappointed with how all of this has turned out,” an insider told People. “This divorce is going to be the best thing for her. Apollo was always really jealous of her success and the fact that she was the breadwinner.”
