Americans can rest easy knowing that hardened criminal and reality TV star, Teresa Giudice, is safely behind bars. The Real Housewives of New Jersey diva reported to the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut around 2am according to ABC.com.

Giudice received her 15 month sentence for tax fraud back in October. Her husband Joe Giudice will begin his 3.5 year sentence for bank and bankruptcy fraud once his wife is released. Their sentences were staggered enabling one parent to be at home with their four daughters.

Giudice’s attorney, James J. Leonard Jr., stated, “I think she was anxious to get in, get this thing started, get it behind her, and get back to her family. Her four girls are her primary focus.”

Giudice prepared for her stay by corresponding with recently released inmates from the prison. What words of advice did they give? Leonard stated she was told to be “friendly but guarded.”

“They told her to keep her head up, that she would make it through,” Leonard said. That’s a bit more encouraging than being told to watch her back.

If Giudice wanted to get a taste of life behind bars, perhaps she should have watched the Netflix hit show Orange is the New Black which was inspired by real life events at the minimum-security prison.

Giudice has starred on The Real Housewives of New Jersey since the show’s premiere on the Bravo network in 2009. It’s doubtful Giudice will be flipping any tables over in the prison cafeteria.

Another apparently newsworthy note: Giudice and her husband ate at a diner for her last meal as a free woman.
