Audra McDonald, four-time Tony Award-winning and two-time Grammy Award-winning singer has been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her performance on the ABC series Private Practice for the 41st NAACP Image Awards. Other nominees include her Private Practice co-star Taye Diggs, Brothers actor Michael Strahan, Kyle Massey from Cory in the House and Tatyana Ali from The Young and the Restless, just to name a few.

This marks McDonald’s third NAACP Image Award nod. The 39-year-old actress was nominated in 2001 for her Outstanding Variety Special, Audra McDonald in Concert, and in 2008 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Private Practice, where she plays Dr. Naomi Bennett.

Winners of the 41st NAACP Image Awards will be announced during the live television broadcast on Friday, February 26, at 8 PM ET, on FOX. Meanwhile, McDonald will be featured in a concert in the Los Angeles Reprise Theatre Company at 8:30pm on Monday, February 1 at the UCLA Freud Playhouse.

McDonald rocketed to fame for her performances in Carousel, Master Class, and Ragtime, working alongside Shirley Booth, Gwen Verdon and Zero Mostel. Following three Tony Awards in a span of five years, she was nominated for another Tony Award for her performance in Marie Christine before she won her fourth in 2004 for her role in A Raisin in the Sun, placing her in the company of other four-time winning actresses Gwen Verdon and Mary Martin. She reprised her Raisin role for a 2008 television adaptation, earning her a second Emmy Award nomination.
