The second character in NCIS‘s two new person plan to replace Tony has been announced. As previously reported when Michael Weatherly leaves NCIS at the end of season 13, two new team members (male and female) will be joining the cast. The female agent Tess is reportedly set to be a name actress in her late 30’s. We now know the identity and description of her male counterpart, Clayton.

According to TVLine, Clayton is described as a British man of African descent. Clayton is a MI-6 agent who will join the team, first, in the season 13 finale. Clayton is in his late 20’s to early 30’s and is incredibly intelligent and athletic. Clayton is “loud, opinionated, often disrespectful, sarcastic, short-tempered and chauvinistic.”

NCIS Teaser: Will Tony’s Exit Include Ziva? >>>

It’s not the most likable of character descriptions off the bat but there is apparently more to Clayton than just a British jerk. According to the character description Clayton only puts on this surly front for the rest of the world. The truth is that he is quite soft-hearted and caring deep below.

This could be in part because Clayton is apparently a father. Clayton will have a soft spot for kids, mainly because of his connection to his own son. This son probably won’t be a big part of NCIS because Clayton reportedly rarely sees him. This means, if you didn’t already guess from the initial description, that Clayton is single and very open to another relationship. As the character description puts out, “He welcomes a few pints at the pub and never denies a pretty lady his company.”

So what do you think of Clayton? Does he sound like a good Tony replacement? Or is he in some ways too similar to Tony?
