Hawaii Five-0 season 3 continues on Monday, December 17 with an episode called “Kahu” (which is “Guardian” in Hawaiian). Continuing the tradition of bringing back guest stars from the original series, George Takei once again takes a trip to Hawaii.

Here’s the official synopsis from CBS:

After someone foolishly tries to carjack McGarrett, he and Catherine meet a boy whose father is missing and may be in deadly trouble in the backwoods of Oahu.

Though the synopsis talks about someone carjacking McGarrett (seriously, what is up with all the people trying to kidnap and carjack Steve this season?) and a missing father, we don’t really see any of that mentioned in the preview video. Check it out below:

What the preview does talk about is of course the guest appearance of Mr. Takei. It’s interesting to note that Takei guest starred on the original Hawaii Five-0 series in an episode called “Death’s Name is Sam.” The original airdate of that episode was October 10, 1975 and Takei played Nathaniel Blake, a police officer who is asked to impersonate another man who has committed suicide in order to bring a criminal to justice. His character in this current episode has no relation to Nathaniel Blake.

Here are a few more things we know from watching the preview:

  • Danny still doesn’t seem to have gotten used to celebrating Christmas on the island.
  • We’re going to see Kamekona, as well as some bikini beauties, wearing Santa hats. Something tells me a few more members of the audience are going to be more interested in the bikini babes.
  • Takei’s character makes a pretty mean cup of moonshine but Danny prefers eggnog at this time of year.

In the sneak peek clip, we see the scene where Danny actually meets Chin’s uncle, who immediately decides that he doesn’t trust Danny because Danny is a cop. The fact that his own nephew is a cop seems to be fine, however, because Chin is family. Sounds completely logical to me.

Here are a few more things we know from the clip:

  • OMG! Danny is actually driving his own car again.
  • Chin’s uncle makes moonshine that is delicious, but not for the weak-of-heart.
  • Voluntarily burning a hole in his stomach is not on Danny’s bucket list, go figure.

In the final sneak peek video, we find the gang sitting around the table at Kamekona’s shrimp truck, enjoying each other’s company and their Christmas presents from the big guy. Steve is conspicuously absent at first but soon comes along and shows Catherine just how much of An Officer and a Gentleman he can be (see what I did there?). I have no idea what precipitated his need to quite literally sweep her off her feet, but I really don’t care. That was hella romantic and Catherine was one very lucky woman.

What did you think after watching the preview and sneak peek clips? Are you excited to see George Takei in this version of Hawaii Five-0? What did you think of Steve’s ultra romantic moment with Catherine?

Hawaii Five-0 airs on Mondays at 10pm on CBS.
