With all the talk lately that Glee will be ending its run after season 6, Naya Rivera is saying she wants her own spin-off. Also in today’s Roundup, the song list for episode 5.7 has been revealed, and it includes everything from Madonna to Miley Cyrus and even Fred Astaire. And Jayma Mays is talking about her departure from the show — did she choose to leave or was she written off the show?

Naya Rivera Wants a Santana Spin-Off

Glee star Naya Rivera spoke to reporters at Elle‘s Women in Hollywood gala, and when asked if she thought Santana Lopez should have her own spin-off series, the actress responded with a simple “Duh.”

She did go on to say that her character “can do anything. That’s the beauty of Santana.”

Rivera also responded, via E! Online, to creator Ryan Murphy’s announcement that season 6 would be the end of Glee: “We always kind of knew that. We’ve had an amazing run on this show, and so whenever it ends, it has to end. Unfortunately, it can’t go on forever. But I’m just really grateful that I was on it for this long.”

It’s highly unlikely Glee is going to have a spin-off at this point, much less a Santana-centered one. It was a possibility to have a series centered on Rachel and Kurt in New York, but when that idea was squashed, the show essentially continued with that spin-off but had it actually be part of the storylines on Glee, as we’ve seen since the start of season 4.

Ratings for the first two episodes of season 5 were not that strong: 5.2 million and 4.5 million, respectively. The Cory Monteith tribute drew in  7.5 million, but that’s an anomaly considering the circumstances surrounding that episode. It’s unlikely that the numbers will improve enough over the next two years to warrant a spin-off.

Episode 5.7 Song List Revealed

Glee may be on hiatus at the moment, but that won’t stop us from finding out everything we can about upcoming episodes. The song list for episode 7, titled “Puppet Master,” has been revealed, courtesy of MjsBigBlog:

“Cheek to Cheek” by Fred Astaire

“Into the Groove” by Madonna

“Nasty/Rhythm Nation” by Janet Jackson

“You’re My Best Friend” by Queen

“We Can’t Stop” by Miley Cyrus

“Don’t You (Forget About Me)” by Simple Minds

They’ve got quite the variety there, with the artists ranging from Madonna and Queen to Miley Cyrus and even going all the way back to Fred Astaire.

When Glee returns from its hiatus on November 7, the first episode back (episode 4) will include Lady Gaga’s “Applause” and Katy Perry’s “Roar.” Episode 5, “The End of Twerk,” will also have a Miley Cyrus song, “Wrecking Ball.” And as we’ve previously reported, episode 6, “Movin’ Out,” will be a tribute to Billy Joel’s music.

Jayma Mays: “It Wasn’t My Choice” to Leave

She may have been featured in the Cory Monteith tribute episode, but Jayma Mays, who plays Emma Pillsbury, has moved on from Glee, as she’s now starring on the new CBS comedy The Millers with Will Arnett, Beau Bridges and Margo Martindale.

In an interview with Metro, the actress is admitting it wasn’t her decision to leave Glee. “It wasn’t my choice,” she said. “The creators decided to do it. We knew it was coming last year — some other characters will also be leaving this season. It’s very sad to be going, but I understand why they do it. It’s about getting new blood into the show. I really enjoyed playing Emma.”

She mentioned that she won’t be the only one departing this season. Since graduation will happen at some point in season 5, I’m assuming she’s referring to some of the seniors who will be moving on and, therefore, their storylines will have come to an end as a result.

Mays also said something that caught my attention: “I don’t know how I’m written out yet — I’m so curious.” Does this mean there will be a farewell to Emma in an upcoming episode? Considering she’s on The Millers right now, I wonder how many more episodes she’ll be in. I assumed they would just pretend like the character is still at McKinley but not have her onscreen, and then allow the actress the opportunity to come back as a guest star if she has time. I guess we’ve have to continue watching to find out.
