Exclusive Video Interview: Aaron Ashmore of ‘Smallville’ Answers Fan Questions

Smallville‘s eighth season will be beginning in just one short week, September 18 at 8pm. BuddyTV was lucky enough to visit the Smallville set and talk to some of our favorite new and old faces, and the first interview we’ve got for you today is of Aaron Ashmore, who plays the lovable Jimmy Olsen.

Aaron is such a cutie, isn’t he? It would have been wildly inappropriate to tell this to his face when I met him, but he has exactly the kind of cute that I look for. You know, he has that “golly gee!” expression. Furthermore, I found him to be very easy-going, down-to-earth and friendly. He’s probably a great person to work with.

Jimmy Olsen had a pretty huge season last year. He had a brief stint working as a spy until he developed enough gumption to tell Lex that he’s not comfortable lying. At the Daily Planet, he began working more closely with Lois Lane (Erica Durance) to get better scoops. Then, in the season finale, he got down on one knee to propose to Chloe (Allison Mack), the woman he wants to be with forever, right before she is dragged away goons from the Department of Domestic Security. What does this mean for his character this season on Smallville? What are some things he can look forward to this season? Is he really ready for marriage?

Just as we promised, we selected a couple of questions from the ones that you all submitted to ask Aaron. Everyone submitted so many great, probing questions, and I really wanted to use everyone’s, but we were only able to have a few moments here and there with Aaron in between takes. Even though all the actors on Smallville were great about taking time out of their busy days to talk to us, Aaron was particularly cool about it.

The night BuddyTV visited Metropolis, Aaron was busy filming scenes from episode 8.7, “Identity.” I won’t give away what happens in this episode, but I will say that poor Jimmy Olsen gets roughed up a bit. (You can tell by watching the video: he’s got a little gash on his forehead, courtesy of the phenomenal Smallville makeup department.)

So, please enjoy this video interview of Aaron Ashmore answering your questions. For a better viewing experience, change the YouTube settings to “high quality.”
