When accused of adultery, you can’t just issue a standard denial these days – you have to sue the bastards who gave a voice to the accuser.  Tony Parker, the husband of Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria, has shot back at reports he cheated on Longoria with French model Alexandra Paressant by filing a $40 million lawsuit against the gossip site X17 Online for giving Paressant a platform to air her accusations.  The lawsuit claims the alleged affair never happened, and that Parker has never even laid eyes on Paressant, let alone slept with her.  Parker and Longoria have been steadfast in the denial of the affair and have publicly made clear that their marriage is as strong as ever.

Now, I’m no lawyer, but $40 million seems like an awful lot to sue a gossip site for.  I mean, the site merely published some allegations that this model made.  If the affair can’t be proved one way or another (which is probably the way it will end up) then what basis is there for such a law suit.  In reality, Parker suing this site is mostly about saving face in the public eye.  Such a rash declaration of innocence is the best Parker can do without proving he didn’t have this affair.

When any random fame seeker comes out to a gossip site or a newspaper and claims they had an affair with a famous married person, I generally don’t believe a word of it.  The same goes for this case.  What is the French model trying to accomplish with these accusations?  Fame, notoriety…is there anything else?  It’s not like Tony Parker is going to leave his wife for the model.  Nonetheless, hopefully we’ve heard the last of this story, and that this law suit will get Alexandra Paressant to stop talking.
