The 90210 cast is getting a little surprise on an upcoming episode of the show, when a character from the original series drops by unexpectedly. Tori Spelling returns to reprise her role as Donna Martin, the best friend of Kelly Taylor (Jennie Garth) on Beverly Hills, 90210.
Following months of negotiations, the actress was finally brought in for a multi-episode arc starting on April 14. She’ll soon be stirring up a lot of old memories for characters and fans alike. But Donna won’t be the only new face on the series. Apparently, Juno mastermind Diablo Cody, who’s also written for Showtime’s United States of Tara, will be making a guest appearance as well.
The CW’s official description of the episode reads:
TORI SPELLING AND DIABLO CODY (“JUNO”) GUEST STAR/WEST BEV STUDENTS VOLUNTEER WITH HABITAT FOR HUMANITY — Kelly (Jennie Garth) and Silver (Jessica Stroup) are surprised when Donna (guest star Tori Spelling) shows up at their door, straight off a plane from Japan. Annie (Shenae Grimes) and Dixon (Tristan Wilds) decide to spend their spring break on a road trip to visit someone from Dixon’s past, while Ethan (Dustin Milligan) decides to step out of his bubble and volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.
Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) joins the Habitat build after learning that Liam (Matt Lanter) is also attending, but is clearly out of her comfort zone. While Kelly and Donna are dining on sushi, Diablo Cody (guest starring as herself) convinces Donna to design her a dress for a red carpet event.
The episode was directed by Stuart Gillard, as well as written by Jennie Snyder Urman & Rebecca Rand Kirshner Sinclair.
90210 re-introduces Donna, now a big-shot fashion designer living in Japan. She’s hoping to open a boutique in LA and has decided to head to Beverly Hills once more to ask Kelly for help. Another reason for her return is her troubled relationship with David.
Though the episode won’t be airing for two weeks, the network has already released new pictures of Donna, which can be found below.
