After a controversial exit from the CSI: Miami at the end of its sixth season, reports have it that it won’t be the last time medical examiner Dr. Alexx Woods would be appearing on the series, as she is welcome to return to the show as a guest star anytime in the future.  This dispels reports that Alexander’s parting with CSI: Miami has been a less than amicable one, with rumored stories on clashes with CSI: Miami main man Horatio Caine (David Caruso).

In addition, it appears that Alexander will have little free time to return to the show, seeing that she was cast to star in the upcoming HBO series Treme.  Named after the iconic New Orleans neighborhood that has produced a lot of famed musicians, Treme was created by one of the biggest names in television series David Simon (The Wire).

Set to start filming toward the end of this year, Treme will explore not just the area’s music scene, but will also delve into political corruption, the public housing controversy, the crippled criminal-justice system, clashes between police and Mardi Gras Indians, and the struggle to regain the tourism industry after Katrina. From these subjects alone, Treme is set to become HBO’s next critics’ favorite, much like The Wire.

For her part, Alexander will play a mother of two and ex-wife of another lead Wendell Pierce on the drama set against post-Hurricane Katrina.

“It’s basically a post-Katrina history of the city.  It will be rooted in events that everybody knows,” says the series creator, who has worked with Alexander in the past for Corner.  “What it’s not going to be is a happy stroll through David Simon’s record collection.  It should not be a tourism slide show. If we do it right, it [will be] about why New Orleans matters.”
