In the latest casting news, Rob Lowe makes another triumphant return to TV, this time playing a heart-throbbing doctor. Additionally, a familiar shrink returns to Once Upon a Time, and new faces join Quantico, Shameless and Code Black. All this and more on BuddyTV’s latest casting news roundup.

Raphael Sbarge on Once Upon a Time

He was gone, but never forgotten. The shrink of Storybrooke is returning again after 2 full seasons. Sbarge will reprise his role as Dr. Archie Hopper, the alter ego of Jiminy Cricket, says TVLine. Dr. Hopper was last seen in season 4, but now that he’s back, “our favorite cricket-shrink is going to find himself with a new patient,” says series co-creator Adam Horowitz.

Blair Underwood on Quantico

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this Agents of SHIELD veteran is joining the FBI drama in season 2 of Quantico as a series regular. Underwood will play the role of Owen Hall, described as charming, direct, comfortable and having an instant presence. Hall is a CIA agent who everyone admires, but may have some secrets of his own.

Tate Ellington on Shameless

Speaking of Quantico, it didn’t take long for this season 1 alum to find a new TV home on Showtime’s Shameless. Tate Ellington has joined the cast of this premium cable drama as Chad, an employee of the company that owns Patsy’s Pies, says TVLine. Chad will try to convince Fiona to stay on as the diner’s manager.

Rob Lowe on Code Black

In other news of actors returning to TV, it didn’t take long for Rob Lowe to bounce back from his cancelled FOX comedy The Grinder either. Lowe has signed on to the CBS medical drama Code Black as a series regular. The Parks and Rec alum will play Colonel Ethan Willis, a doctor in the US Military’s prestigious Combat Casualty Care research program. Willis was pulled out of a combat hospital in Afghanistan and brought to teach military practices at Angels Memorial. His aggressive, rule-breaking style is greeted enthusiastically by Dr. Leanne Rorish (Marcia Gay Harden), but not by all the other doctors.

In more Code Black news, Heroes veteran Noah Gray-Cabey is among 3 new doctors coming to Angels Memorial. Gray-Cabey joins the other newbies, Nafessa Williams (One Life to Live) and Emily Tyra (Flesh and Bone.) Gray-Cabey plays the part of Elliot Han, who is described as sweet and affable. Tyra plays Noa Kean, a street-smart surfer-type who was at the top of her class, despite her tough upbringing. Williams plays Charlotte Piel, a former child star who left acting to pursue medicine.

Felicity Hoffman on American Crime

Season 3 of John Ridley and ABC’s anthology series will feature another familiar face, as Felicity Hoffman has officially announced that she will be back for more American Crime. The series was nominated for 10 Emmys in its first season, one for Huffman’s role as Barb Hanlon. This marks the second actor to make their return, as Regina King was recently announced to be coming back for a third season as well.
