We’re only a couple of episodes away from the finale of FlashForward, but we still don’t have the answer to the show’s future. For a series making leaps through time, this is unacceptable. But what can we do but wait?

Unfortunately, what we’re probably being patient for is inevitable doom. It’s like blacking out, only to find that there’s another black out in store. According to reports and ratings predictions, this ABC series has a high chance of getting axed.

Kristin Dos Santos of E! Online revealed that three of FlashForward‘s stars have already been cast in new shows. Christine Woods will be on the NBC comedy Perfect Couples, Ryan Wynott is on The Cape, and Zachary Knighton landed the lead role in ABC’s Happy Endings.

However, a source revealed that these projects are still “in second position until there’s official word of a pickup.” We’ll be hearing news about that on May 18, and since we can’t see the future we’ll have to – you guessed it – wait some more.

Meanwhile, those still faithful to this slowly sinking series can still content themselves with spoilers. There are only two episodes left, namely “Countdown” and “Future Shock.” Hopefully the shocking future of FlashForward means another season, though we highly doubt it.

Minor spoilers below!

Digital Spy talked to Robert J. Sawyer, author of the novel that the show was based on, and revealed some interesting details regarding the fate of the series. With so many questions that have risen from the previous FlashForward installments, we’re hoping to reach some sort of resolution in the season 1 finale.

“If we are not coming back – we fervently hope we are – then we’re prepared in the editing room to provide an awful lot of closure in the final episode,” he said. “We don’t want to go out as one of those shows that left everybody hanging.”

Well then, it’s good he still has faith in a second run. “All of that is a preamble to saying I think it’s a coin toss. I think we’ve got a 50/50 shot of coming back next season,” Sawyer revealed.

Until then, let’s occupy ourselves with these photos from the remaining two episodes of FlashForward. We can’t really say they’re spoilers, except for a bunch of images pointing to the fulfillment of one flashfroward, at least.
