Don’t put dirt on their graves just yet. After extensive negotiations over finances, ABC has renewed the country music drama Nashville for season 3.

Nearly of ABC’s current shows were either renewed or cancelled Thursday evening and Friday morning, but Nashville was an exception. Due to larger budgets, the studio and network had to hammer out the details on a potential third season. But it all came together Friday evening and the show was saved. And despite early rumors that one possibility was a reduced episode order, the third season will get a full 22 episodes.

Nashville has never been a big hit for ABC, but has maintained relatively stable ratings. It averaged a little under 6 million viewers for the first season and a half, though recent episodes have fallen under 5 million.

The renewal makes Nashville ABC’s eighth returning drama for next season, along with four returning reality shows and three returning comedies. ABC also has a large number of new shows already approved for the 2014-2015 season, with eight new dramas and four new comedies.

The Nashville season 2 finale airs Wednesday at 10pm.
