Episode 1 - The Beginning of the End 1/31/2008 Edit details Charlie's dying message stirs up doubt among the castaways. A power struggle ensues between Jack, who wants to leave the island, and Locke, who thinks that they're supposed to stay.

Episode 2 - Confirmed Dead 2/7/2008 Edit details The surviving members of the supposed "rescue team" are scattered around the island after a helicopter problem. However, once they are located, they reluctantly reveal that they are indeed not there to rescue them.

Episode 3 - The Economist 2/14/2008 Edit details Sayid negotiates a deal with Locke to hand over Charlotte from the "rescue team," so that he can get on their helicopter and reach their ship. Kate joins Sayid for the mission, but she decides to stay behind with Sawyer.

Episode 4 - Eggtown 2/21/2008 Edit details Kate goes behind Locke's back to arrange a meeting between Miles and Ben, where Miles offers his terms for not giving Ben up to his colleagues. However, Locke discovers what she has done, and banishes her from his camp.

Episode 5 - The Constant 2/28/2008 Edit details During the helicopter ride to the ship, Desmond's consciousness begins jumping back and forth between present day 2004 and 1996. He is forced to find Daniel Faraday in 1996 in order to get answers and stop the jumps.

Episode 6 - The Other Woman 3/6/2008 Edit details Juliet gets a suprising visit from someone from her past. She is given orders to stop Charlotte and Faraday from doing what they have set out to do. Back at the Barracks, Ben offers Locke an enticing deal.

Episode 7 - Ji Yeon 3/13/2008 Edit details Juliet exposes Sun's pre-island affair to Jin so that they won't defect to Locke's camp. Sayid and Desmond meet the ship's captain and discover that Michael is working on the boat.

Episode 8 - Meet Kevin Johnson 3/20/2008 Edit details Michael's journey from escaping the island to working as Ben's spy on Widmore's ship is revealed, as well as his mission. Ben tells Danielle and Alex to leave Locke's camp and go to the island temple, but they are ambushed on the way.

Episode 9 - The Shape of Things to Come 4/24/2008 Edit details Jack tries to discover the identity of a body that has washed ashore. Meanwhile, Locke's camp is attacked by Ben's adversaries. Flash-forwards include Ben and Sayid's encounter.

Episode 10 - Something Nice Back Home 5/1/2008 Edit details Juliet is forced to perform an emergency appendectomy on Jack after he collapses on the beach. Jack's post-rescue relationship with Kate is revealed, and Sawyer, Claire, and Aaron head back to Jack's camp with Miles.

Episode 11 - Cabin Fever 5/8/2008 Edit details Locke, Ben, and Hurley continue their search for the cabin so that Locke can talk to Jacob. Jacob ends up telling Locke that he needs to move the island. Back on the boat, Keamy prepares to take off again, this time for an all-out assault on the island.

Episode 12 - There's No Place Like Home: Part 1 5/15/2008 Edit details In the first part of the season finale, the castaways set foot off the island in a flash-forward. On the island, the castaways try to find the chopper, while Daniel helps take people to the freighter.

Episode 13 - There's No Place Like Home: Part 2 5/29/2008 Edit details In the second part of the season finale, Locke and Ben enter the Orchid station in an attempt to move the island. Michael, Jin and Desmond work to dismantle the bomb on the freighter. Jack, Kate, Hurley and Sawyer take off in the helicopter and leave the island.

Episode 14 - There's No Place Like Home: Part 3 5/29/2008 Edit details In the third part of the season finale, Locke and Ben attempt to move the island, the Oceanic Six finally comes together, and we discover who was in the coffin in the season 3 finale!

Episode 1 - A Tale of Two Cities 10/4/2006 Edit details When Jack wakes up, he finds himself imprisoned in an underwater station of the Dharma Initiative and being questioned by an Other named Juliet. Kate and Sawyer are in nearby cages. Sawyer tries to escape with the help of a teenage Other but they are caught. Henry is revealed to be Ben, the leader of The Others. Flashbacks show Jack’s obsession on whomever his wife was having an affair with. He suspected his father and attacked him during an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.

Episode 2 - The Glass Ballerina 10/11/2006 Edit details Ben offers to take Jack off the island if he cooperates. Meanwhile, Kate and Sawyer are let out to smash rocks. On the sailboat, Sun, Jin, and Sayid encounter a group of The Others, which ends up with Sun shooting one of them and the boat being seized by The Others. The three makes it to camp nevertheless. Flashbacks show Sun’s father finding out that Jin was having an affair and his subsequent order to have him killed.

Episode 3 - Further Instructions 10/18/2006 Edit details Locke, Desmond, and Eko survive when the hatch imploded. After seeing visions of Boone, Locke goes with Charlie to save Eko from a polar bear. A flashback shows Locke accidentally calling the cops to the marijuana planting community he was part of.

Episode 4 - Every Man for Himself 10/25/2006 Edit details When Colleen dies, her husband takes out his anger by beating Sawyer up. Ben tells him that it is impossible to escape as they are on another island. A flashback shows Sawyer escaping out of prison and finding out that he has a daughter.

Episode 5 - The Cost of Living 11/1/2006 Edit details Eko follows what he thinks is his brother into the jungle. This turns out to be the smoke monster, which proceeds to kill him. Meanwhile, Jack finds out that the reason why he was kidnapped was to operate on Ben. Flashbacks show Eko’s history as a priest when Yemi was killed.

Episode 6 - I Do 11/8/2006 Edit details Kate and Sawyer make love while in captivity. Meanwhile, Picket nearly kills Sawyer after Jack blackmails them into releasing Kate and Sawyer, lest he kills Ben during surgery. Flashbacks show Kate’s attempt to lead a normal life, which ended when she ran away after confessing about her past to her husband.

Episode 7 - Not in Portland 2/7/2007 Edit details A teenage Other gives Kate and Sawyer a canoe to escape, but first wants them to help her rescue his boyfriend who is current being brainwashed. Juliet kills Pickett, and Jack wraps up Ben’s surgery. Flashbacks reveal that Juliet was a fertility doctor prior to the crash.

Episode 8 - Flashes Before Your Eyes 2/14/2007 Edit details In an attempt to reveal his secret about seeing the future, Charlie and Hurley try to get Desmond drunk. Flashbacks reveal what happened to Desmond after the implosion. He also relives a day of his life with Penny prior to the start of the experiment. He then sees Charlie’s impending death.

Episode 9 - Stranger in a Strange Land 2/21/2007 Edit details Juliet undergoes a trial for murdering Pickett. With Jack and Ben’s help, she is spared from the death penalty. Jack, meanwhile, travels back to the homes of The Others, located on a different island. A flashback shows Jack getting tattoos on a vacation to Thailand.

Episode 10 - Tricia Tanaka Is Dead 2/28/2007 Edit details After escaping, Kate and Sawyer arrive at the beach. Hurley, meanwhile, finds an old abandoned van in the jungle and drives it with Charlie, Sawyer, and Jin. They venture to rescue Jack. A flashback shows Hurley’s dad returning home after he won the lottery.

Episode 11 - Enter 77 3/7/2007 Edit details On a trip to save Jack, Kate, Locke, and Sayid meet Mikhail, someone from the Dharma communications station in the jungle. As they are living the station, however, Locke blows it up. A flashback shows Sayid meeting a former torture victim in Paris.

Episode 12 - Par Avion 3/14/2007 Edit details Upon learning of Desmond’s prediction, Claire ties a rescue message to a bird. The Jack rescue party encounters a sonic barrier fence protecting the domain of The Others. They climb over it successfully. A flashback reveals that Jack and Claire have the same father.

Episode 13 - The Man from Tallahassee 3/21/2007 Edit details The Jack rescue party arrives at the lair of The Others for the first time. They find Jack happy, however, and notice that he and Juliet are in a relationship. Meanwhile, Locke blows up a submarine, which was supposed to be used for Jack and Juliet’s trip back to the island. A flashback shows Locke’s father pushing him out of a window, which caused his paralysis.

Episode 14 - Exposé 3/28/2007 Edit details The castaways investigate the deaths of Nikki and Paolo. Flashbacks reveal that the two stole diamonds from a millionaire television executive and are arguing over it. Nikki releases poisonous spiders upon Paolo but both of them end up getting bit. They end up being buried alive because the survivors did not know that they are merely under paralysis.

Episode 15 - Left Behind 4/4/2007 Edit details Locke and The Others leave The Others’ homes. Hurley wants Sawyer to reconcile with the other castaways. Meanwhile, flashbacks show Kate’s troubled relationship with her mother, who did not want her.

Episode 16 - One of Us 4/11/2007 Edit details The Jack rescue team, plus Jack and Juliet, return to camp. The rest of the survivors are initially doubtful of Jack’s motives because of his overwhelming trust on Juliet. Meanwhile, Claire comes down with a mysterious illness, brought by the implant put inside her by The Others. Flashbacks reveal Juliet’s history on the island and her conspiring with Ben to infiltrate the survivors’ camp.

Episode 17 - Catch-22 4/18/2007 Edit details Seeing visions again, Desmond leads Charlie, Hurley, and Jin to the jungle where they meet a parachutist. Meanwhile, after seeing Jack and Juliet together, Kate turns to Sawyer. Flashbacks, meanwhile, show Desmond’s stint as a monk and his introduction to Penny.

Episode 18 - D.O.C. 4/25/2007 Edit details After learning that all pregnant women in the island died before giving birth, Sun let Juliet examine her in the Dharma medical station, the result of which she reports back to Ben. Flashbacks show Sun being blackmailed by Jin’s mother.

Episode 19 - The Brig 5/2/2007 Edit details Flashbacks reveal that Locke lived with The Others, who held his father in captivity. He then wants Sawyer to accompany him to the Black Rock to see his father. His father turns out to be the man Sawyer was looking for, so Sawyer kills him.

Episode 20 - The Man Behind the Curtain 5/9/2007 Edit details Locke returns to The Others, where Ben takes him to meet their leader Jacob, whom Locke can only hear but not see, so Ben shoots him. When Juliet is exposed as a mole, the survivors turn in on Jack. A flashbacks reveals how Ben came to the island as a boy as part of the Dharma Initiative. He then conspired with The Others to kill most of the Dharma people.

Episode 21 - Greatest Hits 5/16/2007 Edit details Jack learns that The Others are planning to raid the survivors’ camp to abduct the pregnant women, so he devises a plan to kill them via dynamites. Charlie then swims down to an underwater Dharma station to de-clog the transmission lines so Sayid can send distress signals from Naomi’s satellite phone.

Episode 22 - Through the Looking Glass 5/23/2007 Edit details Jack’s plan to use dynamite backfires, and Sayid, Jin, and Bernard end up being held captive by The Others. Naomi finally makes contact with her boat but she is killed by Locke. Charlie finally makes contact with Penny Windmore in the underwater Dharma station but eventually drowns. Sawyer, Juliet, and Hurley rescue the rest of the castaways at the beach. A flash-forward shows Jack’s miserable life after getting off the island.

Episode 1 - Man of Science 9/21/2005 Edit details Inside the hatch, Jack, Kate, and Locke find a man living inside named Desmond. Meanwhile, Shannon meets Walt in the jungle. A flashback shows Jack operating on his future wife. He also sees Desmond.

Episode 2 - Adrift 9/28/2005 Edit details After the raft exploded, Michael, Jin, and Sawyer drift back to shore, where they meet a group of people, whom they believe are still part of The Others. Back in the hatch, Desmond wants Hurley to push his numbers on a computer. A flashback shows Michael giving up custody of Walt to his mother.

Episode 3 - Orientation 10/5/2005 Edit details Jack and Locke discover more things about the hatch. They learn that is part of a 1980s scientific endeavor called the Dharma Initiative, aimed to control mysterious electromagnetic activity on the island. Meanwhile, Michael, Sawyer, and Jin find out that they are being held captive by the survivors of the same flight’s tail section. A flashback reveals Locke’s relationship with his father and Helen who helped him along the way.

Episode 4 - Everybody Hates Hugo 10/12/2005 Edit details The survivors from the flight’s tail section take their captives to an abandoned Dharma station. Meanwhile, Hurley has to equally divide the food they found at the hatch. In a flashback, Hurley remembers how his best friend turned against him after he won the lottery.

Episode 5 - ...And Found 10/19/2005 Edit details Michael starts looking for Walt. Along with Jin and Mr. Eko, they encounter The Others. Fearful for her husband’s life, Sun takes comfort in their lost wedding ring. Flashbacks show the wife of the couple prior to their first meeting.

Episode 6 - Abandoned 11/9/2005 Edit details Believing that Walt is still on the island, Shannon sets out to look for him. As Sawyer is nearly dying, Ana Lucia and the rest of the tail section survivors travel back to the fuselage survivors’ camp. Yet when Ana Lucia sees Shannon, she thinks she is one of The Others and shoots her. This triggers Shannon to remember the events caused by her father’s death.

Episode 7 - The Other 48 Days 11/16/2005 Edit details The plight of the tail section survivors of the same flight is revealed. The Others found them first and infiltrated their camp, along with kidnapping some survivors.

Episode 8 - Collision 11/23/2005 Edit details Mr. Eko brings Sawyer back to camp to seek medical attention. Finally, the two groups of survivors, from the tail section and the fuselage, reunite. Meanwhile, a flashback shows Ana Lucia’s life as a police officer who killed a man after he killed her unborn child.

Episode 9 - What Kate Did 11/30/2005 Edit details Sawyer finally finds medical attention from Kate. Locke and Mr. Eko warn the others not to use the hatch computer but Michael uses it anyway. He tries to communicate with someone who he thinks is Walt. Meanwhile, flashbacks reveal that Kate’s original crime was blowing her father up.

Episode 10 - The 23rd Psalm 1/11/2006 Edit details Off to get some heroin, Charlie accompanies Mr. Eko to the drug smugglers’ plane, where he found his brother’s body. Meanwhile, Charlie takes some of the statues found on the plane, which are all filled with heroin. This causes Claire to distrust him. A flashback reveals that Mr. Eko is a Nigerian drug warlord who accidentally killed his brother and sent to the plane.

Episode 11 - The Hunting Party 1/18/2006 Edit details Still searching for Walt, Michael leaves camp to venture out. To help him, Jack, Locke, and Sawyer try to catch up with him but end up encountering The Others in the forest instead. A flashback, meanwhile, reveals that Jack’s wife left him for another man.

Episode 12 - Fire + Water 1/25/2006 Edit details After a dream that Aaron’s life is in danger, Charlie feels the need to have him baptized. This only annoyed Claire. Meanwhile, Locke moves the heroin statues to the hatch. A flashback shows Charlie’s one-hit-wonder band effort to regain their lost fame, albeit unsuccessfully.

Episode 13 - The Long Con 2/8/2006 Edit details Sun is attacked, and tension erupts between the survivors regarding the guns. It is revealed that Sawyer and Charlie connived to get Sawyer control of the firearms, so Charlie can get his revenge on Locke. A flashback shows Sawyer conning a woman he was starting to develop feelings for.

Episode 14 - One of Them 2/15/2006 Edit details Rousseau leads Sayid to a man who she believes is one of The Others. Utilizing his experience in torture, he tries to get as much information available from Henry Gale. A flashback reveals Sayid’s first time in torturing someone.

Episode 15 - Maternity Leave 3/1/2006 Edit details Aaron comes down with a sickness, and Claire, Kate, and Rousseau travel back to where Claire was held captive, an abandoned Dharma medical station to seek for a cure. Meanwhile, Jack and Locke cannot decide on how to deal with the suspected member of The Others. Claire then remembers the time when she was held captive by Ethan, plus the subsequent escape aided by Rousseau and her daughter.

Episode 16 - The Whole Truth 3/22/2006 Edit details Ana Lucia, Sayid, and Charlie set out to search for Henry Gale’s balloon. Meanwhile, Sun finds out that she is pregnant. She is confounded, however, with flashbacks narrating how Sun found out that Jin is infertile.

Episode 17 - Lockdown 3/29/2006 Edit details When the hatch suddenly closed, Locke is trapped inside with Henry, who forces him to enter the numbers into the computer. It is too late, when Ana Lucia, Sayid, and Charlie return to reveal that Henry is one of The Others. Flashbacks show Helen rejecting a marriage proposal from Locke, citing Locke’s inability to let go of the pain from his father.

Episode 18 - Dave 4/5/2006 Edit details As Hurley chases after his old imaginary friend in the jungle, he becomes closer to Libby. Meanwhile, Locke is doubtful of Henry, as the latter admits that he has not entered the numbers before. Flashbacks show Hurley in a mental institution and it is revealed that Libby attended the institution as well.

Episode 19 - S.O.S. 4/12/2006 Edit details Bernard attempts to create a signal asking for help, but he is asked by Rose, because she thinks the island cured her cancer. Meanwhile, romantic sparks fly between Kate and Jack. Locke continues to doubt the island. Flashbacks show Bernard and Rose’s honeymoon in Australia.

Episode 20 - Two for the Road 5/3/2006 Edit details When Michael returns, he says he thinks The Others are quite defenseless. Prompted by this, Ana Lucia presses Henry to tell the truth. Meanwhile, Hurley takes Libby on a surprise date. Michael, however, starts shooting at Ana Lucia and Libby and releases Henry. Flashbacks reveal that Ana Lucia worked as a bodyguard for Jack’s father in Australia in the past.

Episode 21 - ? 5/10/2006 Edit details Mr. Eko and Locke happen upon another Dharma station, which monitors the other stations through video surveillance. A flashback reveals that Eko was in Australia to investigate a miracle, as a priest.

Episode 22 - Three Minutes 5/17/2006 Edit details Michael tries to get Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley to help him find Walt. During the funeral for Ana Lucia and Libby, Sayid informs Jack that he thinks something has happened with Michael, in reference to The Others. Flashbacks reveal that Michael did in fact have a deal with The Others for him to release Henry and trade several survivors for Walt.

Episode 23 - Live Together, Die Alone 5/24/2006 Edit details As Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley are taken by Michael to meet The Others, Henry foregoes Hurley and just takes the other three. He then releases Walt and allows him and Michael to leave the island. Desmond realizes that he is responsible for the crash because he was late in entering the number into the computer. Locke, meanwhile, is trapped in the hatch with Mr. Eko and Desmond. Flashbacks show Desmond shipwrecked on the island and accidentally killing a man who he lived with inside the hatch.

Episode 1 - Pilot: Part 1 5/6/2008 Edit details A commercial airliner flying from Sydney to Los Angeles breaks apart in mid-air and is strewn across a seemingly deserted tropical island in the South Pacific, with forty-eight survivors of the initial crash. Mysterious roars are heard from the jungle and trees are found knocked over. Jack, Kate and Charlie set out into the jungle so they can send out a distress signal using the plane's transceiver. They also find the co-pilot, who survived the crash, but is soon killed by the mysterious "monster". A flashback shows Jack on the plane.

Episode 2 - Pilot: Part 2 6/5/2008 Edit details Having escaped the "creature" and retrieved the plane transceiver, a group of the survivors travel to higher ground so they can transmit a signal. En route, they receive a mysterious transmission and encounter another of the island's inhabitants. Meanwhile, back at camp, Jack tends to a wounded man who reveals a secret about Kate.

Episode 3 - Tabula Rasa 1/1/2005 Edit details Jack finds out that Kate was a fugitive prior to the crash. Back from the trip, the group who looked for a better signal on the island returns. Sawyer shoots the marshal but does not kill him so Jack comes in to perform euthanasia. A flashback shows Kate on a farm until she is captured by the marshal.

Episode 4 - Walkabout 10/13/2004 Edit details Boars raid the fuselage, causing it to burn to the ground. Locke goes after these boars and, after encountering the monster, does not tell anyone about it. A flashback reveals that Locke was in a wheelchair prior to the crash, and the island mysteriously healed him.

Episode 5 - White Rabbit 10/20/2004 Edit details Boone wants to help everyone so he steals the already waning water supply, which ends up with the castaways turning on him. Jack has visions of his father. He runs after this vision and comes across a cave with fresh water. A flashback reveals that Jack’s visit to Australia was to retrieve his dead father.

Episode 6 - House of the Rising Sun 10/27/2004 Edit details Some of the castaways settle in the cave while some stay at the beach. After finding his father-in-law’s watch on him, Michael is attacked by Jin, yet this is only known to Sun because they don’t speak English. Because of his behavior, Jin is handcuffed to the wreckage. He is freed after Sun reveals that she speaks English and reveals the reason for the attack. A flashback reveals that Jin had to work with Sun’s father for her hand in marriage and Jin has a bloody past.

Episode 7 - The Moth 11/3/2004 Edit details Suffering from heroin withdrawal, Charlie asks Locke for his stash, which the former throws into the fire. A flashback reveals that Charlie and his brother Liam used to be in a band called DriveSHAFT and it was Liam who influenced Charlie toward the addiction, and that Charlie was in Australia to try to rejoin the band.

Episode 8 - Confidence Man 11/10/2004 Edit details The castaways suspect that Sawyer hoarded some asthma inhalers from the wreck. Sayid tortures Sawyer for this but it is revealed eventually that he is innocent. Sayid then walks off to contemplate on what he did. A flashback reveals that Sawyer got his name from a man who slept with his mother, who was killed by his dad. He uses the name to try to get back to this man.

Episode 9 - Solitary 11/17/2004 Edit details On his own exploring, Sayid discovers a cable which runs from the ocean to the jungle. He follows it and is eventually caught in a trap. He meets Rousseau, who introduces herself as part of a science team that crashed into the island 16 years ago. She tells him about another group in the island called The Others. He escapes and tries to find his way back to the group. Meanwhile, a flashback shows Sayid torturing a prisoner who was a childhood friend. Unable to execute her, Sayid lets her escape instead.

Episode 10 - Raised by Another 12/1/2004 Edit details Badly wounded and distressed, Sayid finds his way to the island to tell the other castaways about The Others. Claire wakes up screaming for two days straight now and claims that someone was holding her down and stabbing her stomach. Hurley uses the flight manifest to take a census of the survivors. He discovers that Ethan was not on the plane. A flashback shows Claire finding out she’s pregnant and her boyfriend subsequently leaving her. A psychic moreover informs her that her baby is in grave danger.

Episode 11 - All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues 12/8/2004 Edit details Ethan kidnaps Claire and Charlie and two groups go out to look for them. When Jack encounters Ethan, the latter holds his captives hostage. The other group, meanwhile, finds Charlie blindfolded and hanging by his neck from at tree. After successfully performing CPR on him, Jack is relieved. Boone and Locke find a piece of metal embedded in the forest ground. A flashback shows Jack confessing to a board that his father was drunk while operating.

Episode 12 - Whatever the Case May Be 1/5/2005 Edit details While swimming, Kate finds the marshal’s locked case. Jack helps her open it and the two find guns a toy airplane. A mysterious flashback shows Kate robbing a bank to recover the said toy airplane.

Episode 13 - Hearts and Minds 1/12/2005 Edit details Shannon and Sayid become more intimate, while Locke and Boone find a hatch and try to get into it. Boone wants to tell Shannon about the hatch but Locke drugs him not to. A flashback shows Boone trying to bribe Shannon’s boyfriend to leave her, only to find out that it was all a scam initiated by Shannon herself. The two still end up sleeping together.

Episode 14 - Special 1/19/2005 Edit details Locke has been giving lessons on knife skills to Walt, who is confronted by Michael. The two are supposed to scavenge parts from the wreckage to build a raft but Walt wanders off. When Michael and Locke try to look for him in the jungle, they find him trapped by a polar bear. The two reconcile after Michael risks his life to save him. The group sees Claire stumbling out of the jungle. A flashback shows Walt’s mother moving to Amsterdam and marrying another man, who refused to let him speak to Michael. When she died, however, the man did not want custody of Walt because he was “different.”

Episode 15 - Homecoming 2/9/2005 Edit details Back with the other castaways, Claire reveals that she does not remember anything other than the doomed flight. Ethan confronts Charlie and threatens to kill the others if Claire is not back. Scott is murdered first. Using the guns from the case, some of the castaways set up a trap and successfully capture Ethan, whom Charlie ends up killing. A flashback shows Charlie stealing from a rich girl to finance his drug addiction.

Episode 16 - Outlaws 2/16/2005 Edit details Sawyer and Kate set out to the jungle to find the boar that raided his tent. When he finds it, however, he does not kill it. He gives the gun to Jack, who now possesses all the firearms from the case. Sawyer realizes that he had met Jack’s father in Australia. A flashback shows that Sawyer was in Australia to kill the man who ruined his life but ended up killing someone else by mistake.

Episode 17 - ...In Translation 2/23/2005 Edit details As Michael continues work on his raft, only one seat is available, with Sawyer getting one seat for the building materials he brought. When the raft goes up in flames, everyone blames Jin, and Michael beats him up the next day. When Sun tells him to stop, everyone, including Jin, is surprised that she speaks English. Locke mentions that it is possible that The Others are behind it. Michael sets out to build a new one and Jin offers to help him. Walt, meanwhile, confesses to Sawyer that it was him who burned the raft because he likes the island. A flashback reveals that Sun’s father has requested to kill Jin but he survived, and the two are moving to the US to start anew.

Episode 18 - Numbers 3/2/2005 Edit details Perusing the do!@#!@ents from Rousseau, Hurley discovers that the numbers on it are the same one he used to win the lottery. He sets out on his own to find Rousseau and she tells him that her party was initially drawn to the island by a radio transmission that was broadcasting those numbers. Later, it is revealed that the numbers are also found on the side of the hatch. A flashback shows Hurley winning the lottery, while those around him suffer impossibly bad lucks.

Episode 19 - Deus Ex Machina 3/30/2005 Edit details Locke discovers that he is slowly losing feeling in his legs. Meanwhile, Locke and Boone discover an aircraft teetering on the edge of a cliff. When Boones goes inside and sends out the distress signal, “We are the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815,” a man responds, “We’re the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815.” The plane falls and Boone is critically hurt. Locke brings him back to the cave but does not reveal the reason for the accident. Locke sets out to the jungle. A flashback shows Locke’s father conning him out of a kidney.

Episode 20 - Do No Harm 4/6/2005 Edit details Boone finally tells Jack that he and Locke have discovered a hatch. Meanwhile, Jack is unsuccessful in saving Boone’s life, and Claire gives birth to a healthy baby boy. A flashback shows Jack’s wedding to Sarah, a former patient whom he helped after a car accident.

Episode 21 - The Greater Good 5/4/2005 Edit details In Boone’s funeral, Jack attacks Locke as he arrives. Locke asks for Shannon’s forgiveness but she confronts him in the jungle, after stealing the key to Jack’s case full of guns. Sayid tackles Shannon just as she is firing, narrowly missing Locke’s head. Later, Sayid convinces Locke to take him to the location of the hatch. A flashback reveals that Sayid was an informant for the Australian Secret Intelligence Service and the CIA. He was tasked to infiltrate a terrorist cell, where he found an old friend.

Episode 22 - Born to Run 5/11/2005 Edit details Sayid and Locke take Jack to see the hatch, and he thinks it should be opened. Walt warns Locke not to open the hatch. Meanwhile, Kate seeks to take Sawyer’s place in the raft. Michael suffers from food poisoning and he kicks Sawyer off the raft, who, in turn, reveals that Kate was the fugitive in the plane. Walt finally comes clean to Michael that he burned the first raft. A flashback shows Kate returning to her dying mother and meeting up with a former boyfriend. Her mother begins screaming for help upon seeing her. Tom is killed as they try to escape.

Episode 23 - Exodus: Part 1 5/18/2005 Edit details Rousseau arrives at the beach and warns the castaways that The Others are coming. She tells the group that she was pregnant when she came to the island 16 years ago and The Others kidnapped her baby, whom she had not seen since. A column of black smoke, which according to Rousseau signaled the arrival of The Others, is seen in the distance. The group tells Rousseau about the hatch and the need for dynamite to open it. She directs them to place where they can get dynamite. The place turns out to be a large slave ship stranded inland. Meanwhile, several flashbacks show the castaways during their final moments before the flight.

Episode 24 - Exodus: Part 2 5/25/2005 Edit details Rousseau leaves the ship and steals Aaron, Claire’s baby. Meanwhile, they encounter the smoke monster. Charlie and Sayid head toward the smoke and, along the way, the encounter a plane full of heroin. Charlie takes some and, upon arrival at the beach, they find nobody there except Rousseau and Aaron. Rousseau returns Aaron to the two and says she overhead The Others that they are after “the boy.” On the raft, the group encounters another boat which turns out to be occupied by one group of The Others. They shoot Sawyer and take Walt. They throw an explosive toward the raft and it is blown to pieces. Back on the island, the hatch is finally opened. Several flashbacks again reveal their final hours before departure.
