'CSI: NY' Returns with Season 5 Tonight

csi: ny When we last saw CSI: NY, Mac offered himself in exchange for a hostage when a man named Doug took hostages during a failed attempt to rob a bank. Mac was forced to prove that the bank robber did not kill the bank manager, whose body was found lying in a pool of blood in the vault, while the rest of the team worked to process the evidence that Mac gathered and tried to stop the SWAT team from making matters worse. After further investigation, Mac discovered that Doug did not kill the bank manager and that he was already dead before he tried to rob the bank. Doug explained that he is the real hostage and had to follow orders from someone who was holding his family captive. Eventually, Doug was granted an unmarked police car as his escape vehicle with Mac along his side.

'American Idol' Alum to Guest Star on 'CSI: NY'

It definitely seems that the fine line between reality TV and scripted television is quickly disappearing as several reality celebrities have dipped their toes into the pool of primetime series. While Paris Hilton and Lauren Conrad opt to appear as themselves, some take on the challenge of actually playing a role and becoming an actor for a day. Chris Daughtry, season 5 finalist of American Idol, is no exception. In fact, the 28-year-old rocker from North Carolina will be appearing in the upcoming season of CSI: NY, specifically its 100th episode.

People further reports that Daughtry will play a character named Machiavelli Taylor. Other guest stars this season include rapper Nelly, actor Scott Wolf, former NFL star Marshall Faulk, actress Julie Ormond and Rumer Willis, daughter of action star Bruce Willis and Demi Moore.

Previously on CSI: NY: After finally capturing the Taxi Cab Killer, Mac (Gary Sinise) was sent to deal with a bank robber who demanded help from one of the CSIs. The robber claimed to be innocent, but he was actually plotting to take Mac hostage.

CBS Announces Return Dates for the 'CSI' Franchise

Just like other networks, CBS has revealed its premiere plan for this fall. While we can expect several fresh pilots to debut, there are also many returning favorites to look forward to such as CSI, CSI: Miami and CSI: NY.

First up is CSI: Miami, which is set to return for its seventh season on September 22. The series that stars David Caruso, Emily Procter, and Jonathan Togo, among others, will be occupying the Monday slot at 10pm, serving as lead-out to the premiere of the Kyle Bornheimer comedy series, Worst Week.

'CSI: NY' Concludes Its Fourth Season Tonight

csi: ny Mac Taylor gets caught in his most dangerous crime scene ever as he attempts to establish that a man is innocent until proven guilty. The suspense builds up tonight in the fourth season ender of CSI: NY.
