One of the things to look forward to for the remainder of the fifth season of NCIS is seeing the special agents in a new location apart from their headquarters at the Washington Navy Yard. Tonight's installment lives up to that promise as it sends agent Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and analyst Nikki Jardin (Susan Kelechi Watson) traveling to Baghdad.

The magic of veteran actor and timeless heartthrob Mark Harmon continues to cast a spell of near-invincibility to NCIS. Amazingly, the naval investigation drama has stood up well in its Tuesday 8-9pm time slot opposite American Idol. Last week, NCIS coughed up the best numbers for CBS in its own time bracket with a 3.1/8 share. Overall, NCIS posted a total of 14.9 million viewers, just short the 15 million which helped Dancing with the Stars edge its ABC past NCIS' CBS.
Harmon and company are back tonight with an all-new case in the episode entitled “Internal Affairs.”

Barely a month from now, fans of the naval crime drama, NCIS, will finally have fresh installments to sink their teeth into. Of course, new episodes means additional chances for die-hard Mark Harmon followers to appreciate his ageless good looks and unassuming knack for deadpan comedy.
The good news is that NCIS will resume with new material on air beginning April 8, when a fresh batch of seven installments is scheduled to hit the small screen. To add even more cause for celebration, NCIS not only has post-strike episodes coming, but an entirely new season as well. The show has been picked up as part of the CBS' lineup for 2008-2009.

The final pre-strike episode of NCIS aired last week, and the number of viewers it drew, though respectable, saw a significant drop from its last new installment, which hit the airwaves on November 27.
According to TV Guide, NCIS' January 15 broadcast, which was an episode entitled “Tribes,” drew in 15.9 million viewers, down 1.16 million from the November broadcast called “Corporal Punishment.” The numbers drop is due to the two-hour premiere of American Idol's seventh season, which earned FOX 33.24 million total viewers and a 13.78 rating in key demographics.
