Fresh 'Criminal Minds' Begins Tonight with "Damaged"

April 2, 2008

Joe MantegnaCriminal Minds is back!  The perpetrator-profiling crime-solving series returns tonight with its first new episode since the resolution of the writers' strike.  As an added treat, tonight's installment features a special guest from one of the most popular cult shows of the late `90s.

Criminal Minds was among the first programs back at work immediately after the scribes returned from their hundred-day picket.  Cast and crew were back in production a mere three days after the end of the impasse.  They are scheduled to complete a total of seven new episodes for this current third season, before going on a short break, and then returning to work anew to do a whopping 27 installments for next season.

Criminal MindsTonight, the Criminal Minds team is heading to Philadelphia to investigate a series of murders. The episode, entitled “Limelight,” is the last pre-strike installment of the series, which means that after the broadcast, no new episodes of the show will be available until the strike is resolved.

Strike Has 'Criminal Minds' Star Doing Things She "Wouldn't Normally Get to Do"

January 16, 2008

AJ Cook as JJ on Criminal MindsThe yet-to-be resolved WGA strike has left many cast and crew members of several shows with a good amount of free time, and Criminal Minds actress AJ Cook has been taking advantage, using her unexpected break to catch up on things she normally wouldn't be able to squeeze into her busy work schedule.

"I've been a good little housewife — decorating the house, put up the tree, did a little Martha Stewart making crafts — just doing stuff I don't normally get to do," Cook told the Ventura County Star.  "I've been doing a lot of reading and writing. It's funny; you just seem to be busier when you're not working somehow — I don't know how that works."

'Criminal Minds' Actress to Appear in Upcoming Thriller

January 9, 2008

Kirsten Vangsness stars in Criminal MindsKirsten Vangness, star of CBS' Criminal Minds, is appearing in an upcoming big screen production called In My Sleep.  The film revolves around a man who suffers from a mysterious sleeping disorder that causes him to commit acts while in deep slumber, and upon waking, has no recollection of them.

Kirsten Vangsness, who portrays audio visual technician Penelope Garcia on Criminal Minds, will appear in the film as a woman named Madge.  In My Sleep also stars Philip Winchester as Marcus, Lacey Chabert (Party of Five) as Becky, Tim Draxl as Justin, Abigail Spencer (Angela's Eyes) as Gwen, Kelly Overton as Ann, Beth Grant (Jericho) as Evelyn, Michael Badalucco (The Practice) as Derek and Tony Hale (Arrested Development) as Ben.

Criminal Minds: CBS Sets Date for Postponed "3rd Life" Episode

January 2, 2008

criminal mindsThe writers' strike has sadly left CBS with a nearly empty cupboard of fresh episodes and continues to take its toll on one of the highly rated series of the network, Criminal Minds.  As previously reported, the network has made some substitutions in its scheduling broadcast, replacing several new episodes of the crime drama with some reruns.

Most recently, the network aired a rebroadcast of the third season's “About Face” episode on December 19, 2007 instead of the first-run “3rd Life,” which is the 11th episode of the season.  Four weeks after airing the 10th episode “Birthright,” CBS finally sets the date of the deferred episode of Criminal Minds.
