Emerald City ComiCon: Q&A Session with Julie Benz

May 14, 2008

Julie BenzJulie Benz graciously attended the Emerald City ComiCon held in Seattle, Washington this past weekend. Probably best known for playing the vampire Darla on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, Benz participated in a Q and A session during the event, allowing fans to personally ask her questions.

Benz started out the session tentatively, just repeating "Hi" over and over again. It was endearing that she looked so hesitant and awkward at being in the spotlight.

MOMent #3 - Joyce Saves Buffy

May 11, 2008

Kristine Sutherland, Buffy the Vampire SlayerIn honor of Mother's Day, BuddyTV has compiled this list of our 10 favorite motherly moments.

Being the mother of the Chosen One can't be hard, as Joyce Summers (Kristine Sutherland) realized over the course of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Yet before she knew of her daughter's secret life, Joyce was an ordinary mother, desperate to keep her kid safe. In the season 2 episode “School Hard,” Spike and Drusilla's gang invade the school on Parent/Teacher Night, making it all the more difficult for Buffy to do her duty without being caught.

'Angel' Alum Signs On to Joss Whedon's 'Dollhouse'

April 17, 2008

Amy AckerIt's a great day for fans who are looking forward to Joss Whedon's new FOX series, Dollhouse.  The Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator's latest foray into television is about a girl named Echo, played by Eliza Dushku, who is part of an elite group of people known as "dolls."  These dolls are humans who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas, making them the perfect undercover operatives for dangerous assignments.

It was previously announced that actors such as Olivia Williams and Tahmoh Penikett (Battlestar Galactica) would be in the cast, and now two more familiar names have been announced for prominent roles:  Harry Lennix (24) and former Angel actress Amy Acker.

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' at the Paley Festival

March 21, 2008

Buffy the Vampire Slayer was my favorite show while in high school.  I had a bunch of friends who watched it and, like all of them, when we first became aware of the show we were all quite reticent to dive in.  First of all, the title is simply ridiculous and it just didn't seem like a series that a fifteen year old guy would like.  All it took was one viewing, however, and I was hooked.  There had never been anything like it – it was a crazy comedy/horror/action/high-school drama hybrid that, somehow, spoke to me as a high schooler more so than any other high-school set series (to be fair, I had yet to discover Freaks and Geeks).  Also, a teenage boy has no choice but to fall in love with Sarah Michelle Gellar after watching Buffy.  I'd be lying if I said that had nothing to do with my fandom.  The Paley Festival hosted a panel/reunion with the Buffy the Vampire Slayer team last night in Los Angeles.  This is what went down.
